SilverKris Lounge Update

Presumably we will still have access to the NZ lounge.

As long as you have *G, I'd reckon. Those without will have to slum it in the UA lounge by the sounds of that message.

The NZ may be a better lounge, but given that the UA lounge is only open for the two to three hours before UA840 departs (and even then would be sparsely populated), it probably makes more sense from a space point of view to move the SQ people there.

Wonder if *G will be allowed access to the UA lounge without a SQ boarding pass when it's under SQ command?

...
Passengers travelling in Business Class on *A flights have access to any open *A business/*Gold lounge they can physically get to before the flights.

So a C BP on SQ would give access to the NZ lounge.

Note though, I believe the NZ lounge generally closes around 7pm (after the last NZ flight departs).

I think they limit it to one lounge on each trip though. Ie we can't sample all of the lounges on one departure. I recall at ZRH they marked by BP as having entered the lounge.

They always used to open up for TG flights as they are (or is it were now?) TG's contract lounge. Late night they close when TG boarding call is made.

Good people I have never departed SYD on SQ - how is the SQ F Lounge in SYD?

Any idea if it is to undergo refurb at any time in near future as MEL F is?

It's no TPR for sure.
It's nice n quiet, that's about it. No grande dame or Krug.
It is due for refurb this year, the first under the worldwide rollout of the new designs widely reported.
Actually there's a thread i started here:

Thanks dlf - not sure about it being 1st in refurb queue now as MEL currently closed for refurb is it not?

Chance I might be taking Cruiserette out of SYD in June in F and would love F Lounge to be completed by then.

Terrible. Unless your main goal is solitude, go to the AirNZ Koru Club instead (about 100m away).

It's still first in line to receive a refurbishment to the new SQ standard design - read an article recently saying the Melbourne refurb was "just a refurb", not an update to the new design. Seems a weird choice - but that's what it said!

Am currently in UA Lounge at MEL as SQ Lounge undergoing refurb.

My #1 gf Rita not working tonight - Lana filling in for her on front desk. Lana informs that SQ refurb currently in progress is indeed the real deal - total refurb to what she described as 'something spectacular' - certainly not just a makeover - slated for completion mid March she thinks.

Hope it is indeed completed by then as I have suite Saver to PEK again on Mar 28 - would love to experience the NEW SQ F.

Further update - MNL SKL indeed not really being refurbished - more maintenance. F side which was closed now re-opened - cannot spot any real improvements - even the girls on front desk had no idea what 'improvements' had been done.

J side now closed - YES I think they are going to upgrade toilets / shower first - again the girls had no idea of what was going to be 'enhanced'.

Was at MNL last week, the only difference I noticed that the J lounge seemed bigger than last time, the wall between that and the F lounge seemed to have either disappeared or moved!

Yes wall has been removed = MNL now 'combined' lounge - will not be case in MEL / SYD etc.

Am in SIN morrow morn will see if I can extract a list of ports that will indeed be getting the new super duper F makeovers.

The SQ lounge in MNL is ok, though it is the before & after events of the existing decrepit T1 that dilutes any possible recovery action from any improvement in the lounge facilities, evidently restricted on space.

Interesting - counter to what SQ had previously said, but I'm glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing.

Further update on MEL SQ Lounge - renos proceeding at snails pace - Mar completion now May completion - surprise surprise.

F pax are given $40 voucher to spend at Cafe Vue prior to dep - Moet openly available to both F and J pax who are sharing UA lounge - Cafe Vue voucher personalised and dated so kinda useless.

But I was determined to see someone get some value - wandered back to Cafe Vue vicinity and targeted a couple of elderly pax and offered them some treats - after 10mins explanation they still could not understand what I was doing - but looked to be enjoying their coffees and cakes as I headed off into sunset.

SYD slated for reno post MEL re-opening - no dates forthcoming from SQ.

I quite enjoyed Cafe Vue in the end. Late morning flight (238), and the UA lounge was full with very few seats, no real tarmac view and just not very relaxing. We used the toilets there.

We skipped NZ, and tried the voucher at Vue. Was saving myself for full 7-course lunch, so we had all we wanted with good coffee, quiet ambience, plane-watching, free internet access (good enough for FaceTime), and orange juice for the little one. If you did want to eat, their food is normally pretty good. It was a bit of a hike from there to gate 16, though.

Here's a picture, and the invitation.
