A potted history:

Silverjet is planning to list on London's Alternative Investment Market (Aim) in May, the company said. Price protection Silverjet intends to run a fleet of 10 aeroplanes, all with flat beds.

Silverjet said plans to secure a Boeing 767 to begin flights to Newark airport near New York are well advanced.

Silverjet chief executive Lawrence Hunt said: "This is a very exciting time for the trans-Atlantic airline market. Silverjet is set to revolutionise the long-haul business travel market."

Silverjet claims to be the world's first carbon-neutral airline because it "offsets" its emissions.

Silverjet which links Luton Airport and Newark Airport, New Jersey, carried 2,911 travellers in February (2007).

Business class airline Silverjet aims to raise £26m through the sale of extra shares in the company. The fundraising is a significant step forward for Silverjet," said chief executive Lawrence Hunt.
