Significant changes to Upgrades

I am sure there are a lot of people using the long lost cousin line. How will anybody know if a person is family or not? But true how many WP1's will there be to use this benefit...
Thay may need to telephone their WP! contact to do this - that could in itself engender a bit of discretion.

Does anyone know when the changes to international upgrades come into effect and if it will work for existing bookings also? I got two flights to the US, both booked in Premium Economy on the QF website, coming up next year and obviously am super keen to score an upgrade to Biz at least for some of the legs. Being December now, I tried to put my upgrade requests in this morning but it still tells me the period only starts at the usual 3 months time point. Anyone know more? Thanks!
 
Just rang the platinum desk and told I can only request an upgrade from business to first 90 days from flight...Thought the announcement indicated that from December Platinum members ( not P1 ) could request an international upgrade at any time after making a booking...I am confused !!!

Exactly what I thought. Glad someone called up even so it seems QF doesn't know more either. Could it be that "December" doesn't necessarily mean the 1st- do we need to follow up daily now to not miss the earliest point in time to put the requests in? :confused:
 
... clearly says "changes from December 2011" so it should be now? :confused:
 
From the T & C's, requests for international upgrades are available from December...But confusion as to whether ordinary WP's can request now or need to wait until 90 days from flying

Anyway, it clearly states "from December 2011" so they have another 30 days to implement the change.

Although, I shudder to think they'd make such changes much closer to peak travel season.

Yes, that's what I feared- nothing specific known so we can keep calling them up daily to see if they're finally ready. Always wonder why companies would increase their call center volume in this way instead of offering precise information on their website. :shock: Anyway- will keep trying until anything specific is known.

I can confirm that the web site won't let you request an upgrade for an upgradeable JASA (U) fare yet, but I called this morning just after 8am (as I'm currently a lowly Silver), and after a few minutes to check, the CSA confirmed I have a upgrade request to F. She said that that's the first U to F upgrade request she's done (as most are to J), and that the system is accepting upgrade requests more than 90 days out. It didn't appear online straight away, but I just checked this evening, and it's there. I'm excited, first time in J (on a A380), and perhaps even first time in F. The CSA confirmed I wanted the request for myself & MrsReplay, jokingling suggesting it would be in my own best interest :)

So, if you're hanging out to request an upgrade early (as I was) because you don't have a lot of status, but do have a lot of points, give them a call.

Can someone confirm that l have got this right please.

I am flying Tsv-Bne on Friday and requested an upgrade from y to j at time of booking 7500 points.
Screen came back with no availabilty at this time.
So ok! l went to Expert flyer and did a flight availabilty search and it came back J7,C0,D0,I0
But there was no U fare class on any of the the fare lists.

So l assumed U is hidden?? am l correct here??

I went ahead and requested a notification for U for QF971.

And now l wait.

Have l got this and done it right??

When l attempted the upgrade direct on the QF site and it declined due to no availability, there did not seem anyway to waitlist my upgrade request.
Is there a way of going on some sort of upgrade waitlist to J or do l have to just keep logging in and trying manualy.
I am Gold so assume ringing and requesting won't get me anywhere.

Any recommendations??

I don't know about the waitlisting side of things. But you need U availability to get an upgrade on domestic. U is not hidden as far as I'm aware, as I see it plenty of times of various flights. Maybe someone else will comment on the significance of U not being listed.

As far as I know at some stage this year Dom points upgrades will also be able to waitlist if U isnt available with confirmation close to departure will be by tier status as per current INT process. The current upgrade anytime where U is avail is still staying.
This isnt in place. You could always ring the prem desk and ask you never know
Also upgrade in the lounge at the airport is a last option

Just to clarify,
There are No U fare class on any flight on domestic on QF according to my flight search's on EF.
Now l don't know if this is a new thing for QF or not so am unsure how as covered in earlier posts on this thread you even access U on domestic anymore.
Well using EF at least.

Maybe l am missing something.

Maybe others can do a couple of EF search's to confirm l am not going batty.

There is def no U on anything domestic that l can see.

E/F normally only shows U class for Qantas flight if you select QF as the sole carrier.

I've done some check and it's working fine. Note that P/Z/U/X generally only show if there is availability. i.e. You won't see U0.

well I just tried it and the only award seat on Friday is an X on 977.[/FONT]
