Sichuan Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

On Wednesday 4 September, 3U8418, the 2135 hours from MEL to KWE and CTU has been cancelled. Many Australians (myself included) have not heard anything about Giuyang. I had to look it up to see where it was.

The inbound flight from these locations, timetabled in to MEL at 1300 this afternoon (3U8417) has also been cancelled.

However a 1430 hours arrival, 3U601 from CTU is showing as operating.

3U605 hasn't been observed for many months if not longer although one can't check everyday.

On Tuesday 29 March 2022, this scheduled 1355 hours early afternoon arrival in SYD from CKG has been cancelled.

The 2145 hours SYD - CKG 3U606 on Friday 1 April 2022 has been cancelled.

Also on Friday 8 April, 3U606 got the bullet.

3U605 inbound and 3U606 outbound (CKG - SYD and back) are cancelled respectively tonight and Good Friday, 14-15 April 2022.

This looks like a 'regular' cancellation.

On Sunday 14 September 2025, #u3891 from TFU down to SYD is arriving with A332 B8332 at 1459 hours, 44 minutes late. This still gives it plenty of time before its timetabled 2020 hours departure tonight back to Chengdu in mainland communist China.

Monday 29 December 2025 has seen 3U885, the scheduled 0110 hours from CTU down to MEL (A359 B-32F8, the first time I've noted an aircraft with only three numerals rather than the previously normal four) not take off until 0815 hours.

This is a most unfortunate delay as for most airlines if not all, it's not long enough to transport and book passengers into an hotel, but its length means it's most uncomfortable for all, especially the elderly and parents travelling with small children.

MEL gate arrival is likely shortly at 2113 hours, 403 minutes late. 3U886 (the return flight timetabled out at 2140) is expected to depart at 2320 hours, so the significant turnaround time in the schedule helps to reduce the northbound delay.
