Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

So Where are these people to go? so they can feel safe.
Because even in Germany their preferred country they continue to fight and it's testing many locally what is going on......
Not Mentioning that in April as reported by the BBC 15 Muslims were arrested for throwing 12 Christians overboard.
All these problems and (emotional)baggage travels with them. They fight it out despite being in a new land so vastly different from the one they left(presumably)

“The job of the world today is not to give a new life to these people but to provide a chance to continue their own life at home. Morally, this is the right thing to do,” “Muslim culture is very strong, we don’t oppose it but we haven’t had those parallel societies that are not integrated into European values,” Mr. Orban added.Mr. Orban said.

This is old news reporting clashes between asylum seekers on the way to Italy.

So, it is no surprise it can happen in the shelters.

I still struggle with the concept that people seeking asylum have preferences of where they want to go.

I think there might be merit in some cases (Christians may not want to take asylum in a majority Muslim country for example, and their grounds may be good depending on the circumsatnces). But if you're an economic refugee I think it should be up to the receiving country to determine if they want to accept you.

Back in the old days, refugees were interviewed / assessed in the camps and then accepted or rejected depending on the host country's criteria.

Now, the preferred way is to knock the door down after tramping through no less than 5-6 safe countries in between.

A clear sense of entitlement IMO

That will feed into the subsequent perception that 'we are special' with all its consequences.

Just to be clear, I absolutely support the idea of accepting refugees and offering asylum to those fleeing persecution etc. My concern is about the validity of peoples claims to be seeking refuge, but then saying "I want to go to XYZ rather than ABC" when ABC is an acceptable place of refuge. I guess the subjectivity is about the concept of "acceptable".

I can imagine that to be true, but imagine if a country chose on the basis of religion. Say accepting Christians and rejecting Muslims.

Im just very grateful that we are so lucky here in Australia and that comparatively it's harder for people to come here and abuse the system.

im 100% for accepting more refugees that have been properly vetted and come through the proper channels.

Big rise in German attacks on migrant homes in 2015
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34487562

In a statement on Friday the Bavarian government threatened to go to the German Constitutional Court to compel the federal government to impose a cap on asylum seekers.

Bavaria received 241,000 migrants between 1 September and 5 October, of whom 86,000 were sent on to other German regions, the Munich authorities said.

One day a beheader of women, the next day safely in Europe…but don’t worry I’m sure he’s a changed man right.

What worries me most as a tourist in Europe. A lot of random stuff happening and people are not even being prosecuted for it in fact they are left free to go. German Hospitals are at breaking point as refugees push it over the edge daily express news.

The female anaesthetist said the German health service has been completely overwhelmed by the influx of Muslim asylum-seekers who are REFUSING to be treated by female medics, migrants require treatments for diseases long since eradicated in Europe.

Migrant parents are abandoning their children at pharmacies across the country after being told that they have to pay a prescription charge for lifesaving drugs.

Marki - i think you have answered your own question in the opening post to this thread. Better you don't go if it is going to generate this level of upset to you.

I do not see the same outcome in the video link you posted.

Just came back today .....people are not happy at what's happening in Germany ..... Not upset though as you suggested MEL_Traveller but very bewildered at what's happening and cannot stop it

EU is Falling apart the Australian predicts in months! Those that want care free travel now is the time!
Police at the Greece Macedonia border used tasers on Monday to push back thousands of people trying to force their way across.
Reintroduction of frontier checks and fences will kill Europe's borderless Schengen area. A. Deadly blow for integration!

Migrants in Calais are being incited to violence by anarchists people are barricading themselves in their own houses .....

Another day - another country shuts or restricts its border.. Migrant crisis: Swedish border checks introduced - BBC News

Sweden has announced the introduction of temporary border checks to control the flow of migrants into the country. It said it took the step because a surge in new arrivals had resulted in a threat to public order.

and, the UN (and the useless lefties) have the hide to attack Australia.

Here's another perspective from a prime source country - Afghanistan. While 180,000 Syrians arrived in Europe up to October, 90,000 more were Afghans, but in this part of the world we count refugees in millions. There is a strong push factor and Europe is the next destination for refugees moved along from somewhere else.

The flights have been full out of KBL to DXB this summer, and half empty on the return. Not sure about flights to IST, but TK are asking big money for any fare out of KBL. No specials there. The airlines are doing better than they have been in the past couple of years. Visa restrictions for Afghans have tightened in the UAE and in India, and I was subjected to bizarre additional checks last time I arrived in DEL on a flight from Kabul.

Kabul is brimming, estimates are of 3.5 million to 4.7 million people in a city that had about 500,000 in Taliban times. Many have come here in search of jobs brought by the huge military presence and aid effort in the last decade or so. The wind-down of the military and aid effort has wound down the jobs, and the economy has tanked. Many more have come here over the years because of poor security in many areas, and that security is steadily deteriorating. Many more attacks in many more places. That breeds fear, the primary driver of people fleeing. Every second conversation I have with locals is about the security situation, and none of those talks are very positive. Working with me, with the west, makes them prime targets. The huge aid effort in Afghanistan has created many prime targets in Kabul and elsewhere. The growth of Daesh (IS) and influx of foreign insurgents has increased that fear. Daesh are growing in strength to the East and in areas of the South. Terrorists are out to frighten people and Daesh's propaganda machine has been as effective here as globally. People hope for a better life, always for a better life here, but increasingly despairing of that happening here and thinking of a better life somewhere else. Applications for passports have tripled this year.

Frightened people flee. But where to? The Pakistan border is only 220km away from Kabul. There are various estimates of the number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, 1.5 million, 2.7 million and so on. Well below the six or seven million during the Mujahideen wars, but growing again. Many are long term refugees but Pakistan is taking an increasingly harsh line with harassment compelling departures and a threat to cancel the identity cards of 1.5 million refugees who already have them. This is already causing many to leave, and I think probably a big driver of Afghans arriving in Europe.

Iran is the second destination of choice, with estimates of up to 2.5 million Afghan refugees there, but is also taking a progressively harder line. There is a road to permanent residency but it is a perilous one - go and fight in Syria. Not particularly palatable if you are fleeing fighting.

The next stop along the line is Turkey, but Afghan refugees in Turkey don't get privileges like identity cards that are given to Syrians, although the UNHCR is working with the Turkish bureaucracy to improve this. So they keep on going.

Cheers skip

Europe is changing before our eyes France has closed its borders France has declared a national state of emergency and has closed its borders after at least 40 people were killed in multiple gun and bomb attacks in Paris.
At least 15 people were killed near the Bataclan arts centre, where up to 60 people are being held hostage.

Had they used that policy during the Sydney siege last year it may have been a different result..

They had Monis in their sights for hours.

Paris attacks: is the European dream of borderless travel over?

A detail lost in most of the panoramic images of the Eiffel Tower lit up in the red, white and blue of the French flag this week was the city's motto since 1358, "fluctuat nec mergitur".
A Latin phrase meaning "she is tossed by the waves but does not sink", the words were also projected on to the tower. Unsurprisingly, they have taken on a special significance for many Parisians since Friday night's terror attacks which killed 129 people and injured 352 more.
