Hi Everyone,
I never thought of accumulating QFF points before, and focusing on Velocity-Krisflyer isntead, thinking its much more doable. Anyway, after reading more about the One World RTW, i started to think that itā€™s worth a shot :)

Been scouring the pages on the main OW RTW thread but thought iā€™ll post here. i just want to get the idea of other peopleā€™s interesting J redemption routes šŸ˜‰ from the usual to not-so-common ones, if it turned out to be great value and if there was anything they would have done differently.

Thank you!!

Just to be clear, I believe you are referring to the QANTAS OneWorld Award which is a multi-city award booking including 5 stopovers but does not require a RTW routing, and not the fare-based OneWorld Explorer (or the related Oneworld product Global Explorer) both of which must be RTW.
FWIW, I have booked some interesting RTW Oneworld Award itineraries for Mrs. Jrobin to use up QF points. (Usually I have booked an almost identical fare-based product for RTW itineraries for myself to earn status credits and QF points.)
However, these routes may not be of interest to you since they have been in Y.
Or they may be of interest because they could mostly be done in J also.

Well a couple of the Oneworld Classic Flight Rewards I've done were:

Trip 1 (Economy)
SYD-BNE (QF)
BNE-ADL-KUL-PEK (QF/MH)
PEK-NRT-CDG (JL)
ORY-LHR-GIG (BA)
GIG-MIA-DFW (AA)
DFW-SYD (QF)

Trip 2 (Business)
HAM-MAD-GRU (IB)
GRU-SCL-SYD-CBR (LA/QF)
CBR-SYD-JNB (QF)
WDH-DOH-DEL (QR)
DEL-HEL (AY)
HEL-VIE (AY)

You are right JRobin šŸ˜… Rookie mistake lol. Its the Qantas One World Award that I was thinking of.

Great idea for a thread!

Below with minor variations but same stopovers originally booked for May 2020, then October 2020, then May 2021 and now booked for May 2022:

2 pax in J - about 34,500 miles

MEL-KUL-DOH-ZRH (MH/QR)*
ZRH-MAD-BCN (IB)
BCN-MAD-LIM (IB)
LIM-MIA (AA)
MIA-ATL-ORD (AA)
ORD-PHL-SFO (AA) - still hoping find an easier way to get to SFO than this!
SFO-NRT-MEL (JL)

* Original 2020 bookings were MEL-ADL-DOH in QR QSuites but QR won't release more than 1 J seat on flights out of Australia these days - whole separate thread on that!

Interestingly I recently tried to change ZRH-MAD-BCN to GVA-MAD-BCN but was told the ZRH-GVA surface sector would count as another stopover - from what I've read here that's just wrong but I couldn't be bothered wasting more hours on the phone with poorly trained agents.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Agree that it is usually a waste of time arguing. Unfortunately, you were talking to the wrong person, not that we have a choice in who answers the call.

Call again if you are up to it. šŸ˜€. The number of stop-overs is up to you.

If it books successfully (with the so-called extra stop-over), then itā€™s within the rules.

Thanks Mattg šŸ˜ May i ask how long did it take you to complete the trips?

The first trip took 8 months (with a very long stopover in Paris while I went away and did other things, then came back to pick up the second half of the trip). The second trip took 5 months (with a very long stopover in Canberra, where I normally live).

Awesome thread. Just what I need to reinvigorate my imagination for travel and to use up some points. Cant wait to read everyoneā€™s awesome plans that came to life.

Until Covid rudely interrupted my annual flow, up to 2019 I had done 15 successive DONEx and 1 AONEx - aka true RTW ;), but never a OneWorld Classic Award (for a leisure traveller they don't earn enough SCs to stay WP/elevate to LTG... šŸ˜œ).

I've tended to use a lot of my points for F flights or UPGs.
