Does anyone from QFF have any comment on if/when LAX lounges in the qantas international departure terminals are going to be upgraded?

The food is absolutely woeful in both qclub and first lounges. The inernet is virtually unusable almost 100% of the time. See the computer row for a group of savvy travellers trying to pull the cable out of the macs to use non wifi, though its now a gateway bandwidth problem not just the wifi.

I dread coming to this lounge because it is almost entirely full every single time (even first is totally full right now), yet the facilities do not cater for the volume of travellers. Is it destined to be binned and moved elsewhere or are you just going to fix what you have here?

I was there on Saturday night.. in F they now have Piper Heidsieck instead of Taittinger!
Agreed with the other points. There was a line for a shower, good thing I had one a few hours before..

Not true - it is virtually empty when waiting to get back on QF107 to JFK.

But yes, it is a complete zoo at night before all the westbound flights.

This will all soon be a thing of the past. I heard a rumour that, pending the JV with Mexican Gulf Airlines ("No bling, mierda sólo"), AJ gushingly announced:

"Qantas is delighted to enter into a partnership with a true Global airline. We will be leveraging off MGA's established network and facilities, bringing only the very best that Low Cost pesos can buy. Even better, MGA's vast network to Espita, will allow our most frequent flyers the convenience of seamless 7 hour transits in their state-of-the-art shed. We have already begun negotiations to integrate our high cost fares into their low-cost delivery, safe in the knowledge the Australian regulator will just roll over. Consequently we are ecstatically announcing that, from 2014, we will be switching our LAX operations to Mexican Gulf Airlines's terminal - conveniently located off W Century Blvd at the back of Costco. "

Qantas shares finished 25c lower on the announcement.

Regards,

BD

lol @ "safe" in the knowledge.

I also agree, was their on saturday night in F and standing room only, having said that once QF 12 started to board, seats then became available. Did hear soemwhere that a new lounge is immanent.

The J Lounge is behind Costco, but the F Lounge is beside Wal-mart. The shopping centre shuttle bus runs between the two, every 20 mins.

I was there Sat Night too, was very busy and indeed the Piper was a treat!

I can confirm too the mass exodus seems to start when CX883 gets called and then followed by QF12. After that the lounge is only 50-60% full.

As part of the redevelopment of the Tom Bradley terminal, the oneworld lounge (operated by QF) will expand in size substantially, by taking over the space currently used by Star Alliance next door. (Star is moving to a different location altogether). QF says the redevelopment will be along the lines of the SYD international lounges. Not sure if that means spas, table dining, etc.

This seriously can't happen soon enough. The F lounge is a zoo. Even after QF12 departs.

Late 2014 was referenced by Neil Perry at the Rockpool lunch yesterday.

Was there Sunday night - arrived into LAX on AA in ORD and had a shower in the T4 Flagship lounge, haning out there until 9:30pm before heading over for my QF94.

Got there as the QF11 mob were exiting (a frustrating 10 minute wait for the lift).

At least by then the WiFi was somewhat useable, although it deteriorated later.

As far as the lounge redevelopment goes, most recently it was announced *O are to absorb the current adjacent *A area in October.

Nothing new other than a "date" - It's only a partial opening - into the area *A are vacating (heading upstairs) which *O are to absorb ...
More here:
For more see this post:
I believe the oneworld lounge will basically stay put, simply expanding on the 5th floor to take in the area of the adjacent *A lounge to the South and expanding somewhat outwards with the new Bradley West:

BTW, Gate 134 was operating in November, I used it for both QF93 and QF94.

A little more here as well:

Were you using it to unclog drains in the showers? I wouldn't drink it myself ;)

Better than the stuff in the T4 Flagship lounge that those of us on the LAX-BNE flight get ... a bit of a disappointment. The Cinnamon Sugar Stacy's pita chips almost make up for it. The 30mim wait for a shower the last time I left T4 (Oct 2012) was rather cough. I was first on the list for those 30mins, too. Ended up taking a shower in the AA lounge (the horror :p)
