I guess the difference is that I don't buy 75 litres of coke each week! And if I could get my car to run for a day on 600ml of petrol I would be very happy - or even for $3.00 a day for that matter!
I can get to work and back for $4 of diesel. It's not as tasty as Coke though :!:

While I have never personally used the word (nor do I actually use any of my postnominals), not all postnominals are degrees.

You are correct. I stand very much corrected.

I guess postnominal is of appropriate usage then in this context. It just seems of unusual usage, since the use of postnominals (the literal definition) is fairly contrived (e.g. usually a business card and often only in an academic environment or medical environment).

Hands up all those that don't actually use the word postnominal in favour of the more KISS principle inspired degree.

(Unless they lecture in specialist fields like....dentistry ...where their positions are relatively impregnable...)
I used to hate the 2:30 lectures :p

I'd quit digging...:-|

Don't worry...I just think we are all envious...or wistful...or a healthy dose of each ;)

I really enjoyed my Uni Days....was amazing fun.....but with Knowldege being King...I wish I knew then what you (or I ) do now.

Still I had a great time doing all sort of 4WD trips and expeditions back then...and many of the places I went to then you cannot get access to now.

Which I guess gets back to the essence of this thread...enjoy what you do...and do what you enjoy.

If that is getting WP status..do it...

If it is more J travel do it...

We all have our own priorities and trade offs to achieve them.

How much something is value is in the eye of the beholder.

For example someone that flies a lot of Business Class for work.....would probably not enjoy a Business Class Holiday as much as someone where it is their once a year big trip.

On accommodation for me for example..location is the most important criterion...and I gladly trade off other accommoadtion criteria to stay somewhere with the best location (and what is best of course depends on a range of factors such as whether it is a city or beach or country destination...whether one has kids with one or not...etc etc).

If we all only ever worried about what is cheapest we would only drink tap water and not wine....and never dine at a restaurant when you can cook at home etc etc...and life would be very ho hum...

I can get to my usual place of work for the cost of a cup of coffee. The walk from Kitchen to Office is about 20 metres. But if I have to go to the company office (maybe 3 or 4 times a year) then its an hour drive :(.

Yes but do they give you your own Helicopter to play with :?:

A minor by line: We had to stop taxing yesterday to allow a Koala to cross in from of us  .... and I thought I'd already seen it all :!:

One of the reasons why I cram in travel as much as possible whilst I'm at uni is the urge to do it while I still can. Who knows what post-uni would bring, considering that the average amount of leave one gets is 4 weeks per year. Almost tempted to retire immediately after uni  but I'd get bored sitting around. Or I could always be a Professional Student... Current plans are still to study grad school in LA, thought about going to fashion design school but the best schools (places like Central St Martin which count, amongst others, Zac Posen, Hussein Chalayan and Mich Dule as alumni) aren't in LA but in NYC and London...:/ Now to work on convincing the special someone to move overseas...

One of my favourite sayings was told to me by an old bushman when I was about 20 and was camped at Dalhousie Springs ( Dalhousie Springs SA @ ExplorOz ) after being out in the Simpson Desert.

"You know son, you are a long time dead...."

Or Carpe Diem ......for the Latin verson.

It struck a chord with me and still is one of my favourite sayings. I have had a lifelong love of travel and a lust for new horizons. AFF certainly helps we to achieve one of my main goals in life which is to travel ..

Many people I meet and know state that I am lucky to travel so often ...but it is not luck at all. It is prioritising matched with desire and committment with a dash of skill to make the most of travel opportunities.

My favourite saying was from a farmer in his 90's from Gresford NSW-"son you can sit on the porch if you like AND life will pass you by".Well both my wife and i love travel and life is not passing us by.

Indeed, oz_mark is on the ball, anat0l. Not all of us can afford the time to get full-time degrees and I had no desire to attend lectures. As such, mine are a Diploma and Associateship from an Institute, another Diploma from another Institute (although it was a partnership with Deakin Uni) and a Grad Cert from a University (UWS-Hawkesbury). So I see none of those as a literal "degree". Through my 13 years of part-time study, it also allowed me the flexibility of travelling when I wanted.

Small world, she probably knows (of) my brother if she's at the UQ Dental School - and could be a client of ours soon...
