Seeking expressions of interest in Southern/Eastern Tasmania wine tour

Estimated cost $160/head based on 25 in a 48 seater coach and the 'Posh Pit' on the ferry to MONA on Saturday morning (to get the tour off on a good start!!). If there were 35 pax the cost would be about $120. Your accommodation etc in Coles Bay would be extra $$, but I expect would arrange this beforehand (I have contacts in Coles Bay!!).

So, have a think and let me know any suggestions for timing etc.

As much as I have never experienced sitting on a sheep I think the Posh Pit will save some of the more familiar AFF members the embarrassment of confessing... ;) :)

I suspect you are right. But I guess at the end of the day people can choose their mode of travel the MONA ferry:

Option 1. Sit on a sheep (Cheaper ferry option)

Option2. Posh Pit. (My choice as a DYKWIA .)

+1 has instructed me to inform you that she is definitely interested in the 2 day option.
Worst case I would fly down Sat. morning and catch up with the group. Ultra keen on this event now.

Orright! I'm committed to offering the 2 day tour :). Next I'll work on the wineries and make sure they'll accept the [-]riff-raf[/-] refined AFF tour group.

I think timing co-incident with Dark mof_ would be appreciated by many (it runs for a week or so),so will await the release of dates for 2016 (probably sometime June). I'm not thinking that it would be included in the AFF tour, just that people could go to Dark mof_ / Winter feast on the same trip.

My thanks to Buzz for help and encouragement so far!

My apologies for lack of updates; I've been waiting for the dates for DarkMoFo and the Winter Feast to be announced, as it would be great to co-incide the wine tour with this, if possible.

Just announced: Dark mof_ will be June 10 (Friday) - 21 (Tuesday). Winter feast June 15 (Wednesday) - 19 (Sunday). Nude winter solstice swim June 21 (Tuesday).

Here is my 'trip report' on last year's Winter feast (and some dark mof_)

So if people want to combine a trip to Dark mof_ and the Winter feast, the optimal time for the 2 day, weekend wine tour on Tasmania's east coast would be the 18th & 19th June. The next optimal would be the prior weekend, the 11th and 12th of June.

But of course we don't have to have anything to do with Dark mof_. Things will be more expensive and in shorter supply then.

So, please nominate the weekends in June or July when you could make the tour (not your 'preferred' weekend) OR if its easier, nominate the weekends you CAN'T make it. I'll draw up a matrix of say the three preferred weekends and put them out again for final choosing.

Remember you will probably need to fly into HBA on the Friday night and leave Monday morning (first flight out is 6am ;)); check flights in June/July for your situation. I expect the tour to depart downtown Hobart about 9am Saturday and we won't go past the airport until after the first stop in Hobart, say between 11 and 12. Therefore a Saturday morning arrival would be an option (before 11am) if you don't mind missing the first winery. I expect the bus to arrive back at HBA about 5pm Sunday. There is a Travelodge at HBA with a shuttle to the terminal (5 mins) .

I will organise accommodation at Coles Bay for Saturday evening at some self catering places, if wanted. There will be a dinner (probably BBQ) Saturday evening.

Please do not non-refundable book flights & accommodation until the tour is finally confirmed. This is a more complex tour than others recently offered and will need a decent number of 'all but Platinums' before it gets final confirmation.

At the moment only the 11-12 June is no good for me

June is out for us as we head OS on the 10th. July would be better (any weekend really).

Given my inability to plan in advance, either date is okay at this early stage. When are they cheap flights? Perhaps the earlier to dodge school holidays, but either may work?

Work with me, people! Please nominate ALL the weekends in June and July that, at the moment, you could attend (or, if easier, nominate the w/ends that you can't do it.)

I'll run up a matrix to work out the most popular 3 or 4 w/e, then ask for a first and second choice.

Might be easier for me to nominate a weekend, but I'd like to try to give the trip half a chance to get a decent number of attendees.
