Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

My brother is flying on 1 July SIN-FRA on QF5, wondering what the opinions are here of the best seat?

70J is available, as is 58C. He is on a BA codeshare ticket but I have the QF PNR so can reserve seats for him (already got 71D for LHR-SIN).

it appears to be an older 4-class bird, as Y begins at row 40 (minus HJK in 40)

Thanks!!

Does he have status?

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

He's as nothing as me! (Well maybe even more nothing...I have more SC :p)

OK. I usually find the first few rows on the FRA flights are often emptyish and you can get a few seats to yourself, but if he has no status I wouldn't think he'd be able to allocate that far forward......

Oh ok. I was going to leave it to the Altea Gods to be honest, but I might just check at T-80 and see if anything jumps out.

Probably a good option! I normally select something in the middle block of seats, on the aisle seat obviously. More chance of having a spare seat next to you which I've found to be the case on QF5/6..

Thanks mate. About to book. There are only blocked seats left and it still allows me to book. Does that mean I will be allocated a blocked seat and if so when? Thanks again.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

Hi There,
Whats QF11 looking like from SYD to LAX on the 4th of August? I am a QF Gold and partner a silver. On the A380 could I book a A and C seat, and hope that nobody sits in the B seat? And we are returning from LAX to BNE on QF16 on the 17th of August. Again whats this flight load like?
Thank you very much, your help.

Re: QF97 Y 23AB seating

I'm looking at either flying QF2 17-10-12 SIN-SYD or QF320/BA15 on the same date and im wondering how are the loadings in Y and J (will ask how likely is a points upgrade in the proper thread).

Hello there everyone, long term frequent flyer new to this forum world ... Gold for life on Qantas , Platinum on Velocity

I am traveling to St Petersburg (Russia not Florida) on Finnair this weekend and try as I might I cannot use there seat selector to pick seats for my wife and I ... I can select them but then I get bounced out on an error. Their website says a Saphhire Oneworld member can select seats for free but no dice for me , tried calling Qantas but they said not their flight, tried calling Finnair in Australia but got no answer, sent them a fax got no response...

I booked using Zuji online for Finnair Flights , some of which are Qantas Codeshare, but only the ADL > SIN portion, the longest hauls are Finnair and I want a decent seat .... anyone have any clue as to where I can try next, short of waiting for the check in to open up 36 hours prior to flying ... :?:

WOW What an experience in modern customer service, after failing to get in touch with them I stumbled across a Twitter account called @finnairhelps and they actually did, I ended up having a one on one direct message conversation with a service agent who not only booked the seats I wanted for me , she also booked me exit row seats on my long haul trip home ... SERVICE ... sometimes it is hard to find the right way to connect to a company but if you are looking for alternatives try their twitter accounts , they are new and not many people are using them... Props to FINNAIR

Thanks for posting.

Not many here have a great deal of recent experience with AY.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Just looking for the seating maps of the following and the better seats available

16/9 QF71/QF1/QF9 (Y)
30/9 QF2 (Y)
1/10 QF78 (Y)

I have only done Qf2 30/9 as I don't know the city pairs for QF71/9/78 and you need those for Expert Flyer seat map searches.

Sorry I should add that info

QF9 is SIN-LHR
QF71 is PER-SIN
QF1 is LHR-SIN
and
QF78 is SIN-PER

That is correct, but you are able to connect onto it from any of the PER services to SIN.

Or probably QF2 LHR-SIN since QF9 SIN-LHR is one of the other requested seat maps.

I'm trying to pick my seat for QF1 Jul 21st SIN to LHR leg but it keeps bombing out when I click on select seat saying seat map is unavailable and to call them. I'm QFF Gold so should be able to select a seat. Anyone knows why I can't select a seat on QF metal? I can't be bothered calling them.
