Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Just had look @ seating on my qantas booking for above flt. and front cabin is now re-configured with the new seating in front cabin, now showing rows 1-2 ab & jk, row 3 on qf booking shows ab & jk (on ef shows ef), row 4 ab, ef, jk. (sorry don't know how to cut and paste direct from ef).seat guru not showing the new configuration to help me choose if better seat than 4e presently chosen. My ? is now that that my current 4e is no longer first cabin, should i go upstairs as it looks as tho. i can choose aisle exit row seat. I'm gold.TIA

This is the old (~1year) 3 class standard configuration with Skybed MKI. (The "new" one has only three rows of seating in Zone A)

Personally I prefer 4E/F to ANY other seat as no-one has to climb over or go around another PAX to access an aisle.

Here's some more information (some of these maps predate the 2 to 3 class conversion that added PE to the aircraft):

Thanks Serfty I'll keep 4E. going over it shows no rows in front of 4ef but coming back it shows rows 2-3ef.

serfty showing the new configuration in manage my booking, no longer the first class seating qf 15 10/15:
rows 1-3 ab & jk
row 4 ab ef jk

ef still showing the old first class seating. i looked ahead to jan., just for interest, diff. configuration again plus appears to be one less row upper deck.

manage my booking returning 11/15 still showing the old first class seating but expect that to change.

BNE to LAX - PE? 8th July

All,

My SO and I are traveling BNE to LAX on July 8th.
We have a Classic Awards Y ticket.
We are in seats 38B and C.
I spoke with QF and they tell me these seats are is PE...

But, the aircraft map on my booking doesn't show, returning an error.

Any ideas how I can tell which aircraft this would be, and how to see the map?

Cheers
RB

Sorry, cannot reproduce the actual map here, but EF is showing, for QF15 (I assume that's the flight?) for 8 July, 38BC as the first row of Y :(. So if that is correct then you've been misinformed by QF.

PS. Maps at http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/aircraft-seat-map-boeing-744/global/en i think yours is the third one listed.

Could this be a four class 747 sold as a three class? Would that make rows 38 and 39 Y+ but sold as Y?

Best A332 J seats on QF575 26/11??

Hi all, my first post....
I've just booked a pair of JASA on QF575 a330-200 Syd-Per for 26/11 and as a WP the Qantas OLCI seat choices are any seats rows 2 to 6. 36 seats in all 2+2+2, row 1 greyed out.
However, it is showing knife & fork symbol in front of row 4.
Would this mean it's an international cabin layout and skybeds, as the domestic layouts don't have a gap between row 3 & 4?
Either way, which are considered the prime seats for the missus & I? I always go for a window seat.
I initially went for 2A & B but am intrigued with 4A & B if it has the galley bulkhead in front.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi dean.

That layout would indicate skybeds. I would go for row 4. I enjoy the front row and that can be selected without waiting for t-80.

Enjoy.

Re: Best A332 J seats on QF575 26/11??

I had same layout fro AKL - SYD last week had choice of rows 1 and 4 window but stay with row 2a, bad mistake had to climb over 2b pax don't know what I was thinking I'm always row 1 or behind bulk head. So row 4 for now and enjoy the space.

Re: Best A332 J seats on QF575 26/11??

Thanks for that, have changed to 4A&B, might try for 1A&B at T-80.
We are actually coming back from LAX in Y+ the day before, so a skybed for the leg home is an unexpected treat/upgrade (late aircraft changes not withstanding).

If travelling Solo, I tend to go for one of the seats in the middle pairs as no-one has to climb over and/or be climbed over should someone need/desire a short walk.

Qantas to LAX 30/7/2011

Hi to all,
I'm needing to ask a large favour here;
Can I please ask for the current passenger loads in 'economy' for this Saturday's, July 30th Qantas flights to Los Angeles ex Australia.
Namely QF15, QF107, QF11, QF25 & QF 93.

Would very much like to find an empty seat in the 2-seat section at the back of the 747s (rows 70+), if they can still be snapped up, or the chance of having an empty seat next to me on an A380 flight.

Whiny request I know, however for a first time international flyer, travelling solo, a 14 hour flight sounds very uncomfortable sitting in economy. Best bet seems to try and catch the emptiest flights where possible.

Thankyou
Adam

QF15 72jk; 73abc; 73defg; 73jk

parsonstrish, you are a god!! Thankyou for this info!

Can row73 be pre-selected as a seat choice, or is this row only allocated on the day of departure?

Adam, qf15 73k is not blocked
qf93 73jk are not blocked
qf107 73ab and k are not blocked.
cheers

QF15/QF107 are typically 744; QF93 is generally a 388, but 744 operated some days so I'll assume a 744 in each case.

Further assumption is that you are simply endeavouring to do seat pre-allocation with Qantas.com/yourbooking .

IME, his probably means they have actually been pre-allocated.

To get a more complete story you'll need access to GDS seat maps - ExpertFlyer and KVS can provide these.
