>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

If you are talking about June to July 2023, I'm afraid you left it too long. July-august 2022 would have been the best time to start looking for redemption tickets if your travel is 2023

If 2024 then the redemption tickets have not yet been released

There are no hidden tricks to getting redemption tickets - if they don't exist then no amount of digging will find them. It is always difficult as you say nonetheless.
It’s about finding them. Qantas doesn’t show every available combination. Sometimes using a site like AA.com will throw up some alternatives which you can then see if they are replicated on the QF site.

Searching for through fares point-to-point may also be problematic. Sometimes you need to search Australia to Asia, then separately Asia to final destination. Once found, use the multi city tool to piece the fare together.

If you are talking about June to July 2023
“as early as the first week of June” is kind of a hint, as are the days of the week for June 27-30. But no doubt you feel better now.

To the OP: the June 10 flight would be a good one to snap up if still available. You’re a little too early for the return as yet, early July will start to become available around mid-July depending on the airline.

I have a severe genetic skin disorder, and the thin air makes my skin dry, painful and it becomes difficult for me to move.
The B787 Dreamliner has a lower cabin altitude and higher humidity than most other planes. Have you considered prioritising flights on the 787? Fortunately there are many airlines flying them now.

Hi all, it's been a while.

Please excuse me if this is the wrong place for such a request.

I'm Beginning the enormously difficult task of trying to travel to the USA to attend a biennial dermatology conference. I am a Gold FF with QF until the end of July. I am planning on heading to Buffalo NY to spend some time with a mate, (whose son has a similar skin condition to me). Our plan from there is to head to Albuqurque NM for the conference , which runs from Thursday June 27th - Sunday 30th June. It is likely that we will spend 5-7 days having a break together after the conference. Looking to head back to MEL around 5th-10th July.

Since I stay with my mate in Buffalo, accommodation isn't really an issue, (and I can work from OS), so my departure dates are quite flexible. I would be comfortable departing MEL as early as the first week of June if need be.

Flying, (especially long haul) is incredibly debilitating and uncomfortable for me unless I'm in Business Class. I have a severe genetic skin disorder, and the thin air makes my skin dry, painful and it becomes difficult for me to move. Last year I was upgraded from Premium Economy to Business from LAX-MEL and it was absolutely amazing for me.

I've typed out similar requests before, and have received some jocular replies such as "Don't we all want to fly at the pointy end?"

I've been through a lot of cough in this life, so it won't ruffle my feathers if you feel you need to be the jester here.

I don't care about short-med haul domestic flights within the USA, put me in the back, I don't mind. If I could fly J from MEL/SYD/BNE-LAX-JFK/PHL/ORD/IAD-BUF or MEL/SYD-DFW-BUF (assuming AA flies DFW-BUF), it would be brilliant.

I've spent a dozen hours looking at the QF website. I did see (I'm pretty sure) MEL-NRT-JFK on June 10th for 159,000 points?

Other than that, I am bamboozled by how difficult it is.

Under normal circumstances, I would lodge a request with Frequent Flyer Solutions, but they are unavailable atm.

I have been an expertflyer member from time to time, but I don't travel OS often enough to justify the cost.

Any suggestion/offer of assistance - small or large would be amazing, and I'd feel very blessed.

Thanks All.
Start looking 1 year out. Look every day. Look multiple times in the same day. That's the best advice I can give you.

I'm aware of that, it only makes a difference of about 2000 ft, I noticed it when I flew from LAX-MEL last yr. It did seem a little easier, but I out that down to scoring in J 😁

Could someone please show the economy seat map for SQ228 MEL-SIN on Aug 5th. Playing a game of checkin chicken over seat allocation.
