Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Hi John

It is 46A exit row I am looking at. Right next to the door with the slide.
all 43 seems to be taken.

I am not too tall and I have sat with the slide protrusion before. I usually find that at least you can stretch out and get up when ever you like.
Mike
I am 5'8" and have no issues in exit row window. Able to stretch both legs out side by side. Yes other passengers do loiter there occasionally but that's a minor inconvenience.

Same as me then John
Thanks for your assistance.

Hi all, currently am allocated 1a 1b on qantas 747 hkg to melb as we had a bassinet request in. But now we found out baby doesn't fit the bassinet anymore.
Question is should we stay in 1ab or move to 7ab as looking at pictures 1ab doesn't look private as it so close to 1jk?

Thoughts ?

Hi everyone

My wife and I are flying QF9 to London on Friday. We're currently in 62J and 62K with a free seat next to us at 62H.

We have a J/PE upgrade request in but it looks unlikely that we'll get J.

Would a PE upgrade be better than 3 Y seats?

Is there a better position for us in the map below?

TIA

if baby does not fit bassinet anymore, is this a weight and/or age issue?.
Sounds like baby will be a lap baby.

I think 1ab is good as it's a bulkhead and no foot traffic to bother you or baby.
I know some will say babies should not be in that cabin but hey the baby has as much right to be there.

the empty seat next to you will not necessarily be empty on the day of the flight.
So expect that someone will sit in that empty seat. You may indeed be lucky but expect not.

2PE will be much better if you can get it.

your seats are about as good as it gets but you could try to game the system by moving to the aisle + window rather than current middle + window. The aisle is much more attractive to the line passenger than a middle. Hopefully then no one wants the middle and you end up with a spare

Thanks Quickstatus!

I'll leave the J/PE request in on the hope of a PE upgrade, and otherwise leave my Y seats alone. Much appreciated!

Read the last paragraph for a fine tune

Thank you. I've just changed it. I'm not sure if I was moved or was just mistaken, but I was actually in 62A and 62B, with 62C taken. So I've moved us to 63A and 63C. I guess if someone takes 63B I'll just ask them if they are willing to swap!

Hi everyone

We have just booked BA12 SIN->LHR in July and would like to book our seats - the only previous time we have flown BA we found the layout difficult getting in and out of seats. Neither of us is quite as agile these days, but we don't want middle seats

This is the current seating

Appreciate your wisdom and recommendations

many thanks

Thanks for that :)

Yes I have, but I was hoping for firsthand knowledge if possible.

Last time we had 53A & 53B - I was in the A seat which collapsed under when I put my foot in the wrong place as I was trying to get out quietly in the middle of the night - which tweaked my back a bit and took a couple of weeks to get back to normal. (This trip I'm grabbing the aisle seat! LOL)

many thanks

Thanks for that. But I just went to book them - and they were $140AUD each - so I'm prepared to live with whatever I can still manage choose 24 hours in advance.

Wasn't expecting that!

Welcome to the joys of flying BA.

Though if you have OneWorld status you can choose seats for free. For OneWorld Ruby it is from 7 days in advance and Emerald and Sapphire from time of booking. Emerald you can also select for others travelling with you in the same class but could be on separate bookings. How that works, no idea. And sapphire it is anyone travelling with you on same booking and same class.

hi. This Saturday 12 February, QF29, the seat map is now blocked and won't display. Can someone with appropriate access to expert flyer (or similar) confirm this is still a refurb 747? (ie hasn't been changed to 4 class, or even downgraded to a smaller aircraft)

I am sure if you think about it you will remember the drum about the to/from ports - not all of us are from Melbourne. The seat map shows the refurb fitout from what I can see.
