Because the search function didnt show me any results, I thought I post a tip on how to pre-select seats on AA that are sold as codeshares (e.g. IB, AY).

If you log-in on the AA website with your Sabre PNR you will have NO button to preselect a seat (I think BA codeshares are the only exception). The AA hotline only told me they can't assign me a seat as my flight was sold through IB. Calling IB, they offered me to assign a seat, but could only access seats at the back of the plane.

The solution is to login at the AA manage my booking page not through your PNR, but by manually entering the dates, airports and selecting it as an AA flight. A new window pops up with only the single leg, an different PNR, the Departure/Arrival airport as passenger name AND the possibility to choose seats. However, they still tried to charge me up to 110$ for a MCE seat, as this PNR did not contain my FF number. After putting this one in, everything was fine and I could chose my desired seat (even exit rows for free).

As I booked through expedia.com I had a look at my allocated seats and was surprised to have now two seats allocated. Calling the IB hotline again they removed my initial allocations and I was happy.

This was the information I needed. I have a connecting flight from LAX to MIA and Qantas could not give/find me the AA PNR and it was not available on checkmytrip.com but I have been able to locate it with the information you gave. Thank you so much!
