Seat selection - doesn't work?

My understanding is PE fare holders can only sit in the PE area which have more legroom than Bluezone area anyway.

It appears blue zone seating is only for standard economy passengers who want to purchase extra legroom.

PE fare doesn't mean we can demand whatever we want.

I have had the same thing happen to me today. Moved my PE seats from 1D & 1F to 1A & 1C and now it says I have to pay $60 as it is marked as a special requirement of more leg room. What gives, its a PE ticket. If a seat available in PE i should be able to sit there!

This really erks me as now I have to call up to get it rectified.

Just sitting with a colleague who is trying to do a Virgin web check in, flying in PE. When it comes to the seat selection page it just brings up an empty map with no seats, perhaps he is on a cargo run:p

Good grief again Virgin, your website is just a joke. And a bad one at that :!:

I'm getting something similar for my MEL-SYD flight in PE. Seat selection is not available, I can however select my J seat on my onward SYD-PER flight. :?:

I had an issue with my seat selection last night. I'd pre-selected 3F SYD-BNE and was called to the front desk at The Lounge where I was instead handed a Boarding Pass for 1F. Can this problem occur more often please? :p

Are you able to supply via PM the PNR of your colleague?
Thanks

I had an issue last week with my SYD to MEL flight too. I had selected seats 1A and 1C from 14 days before the flight and remained in these seats until the day before departure when I was moved to 2A and 2C.

Called through to the velocity team and was told that someone at Sydney airport had moved me out of these seats to accommodate a blue zone passenger. I was told they had oversold blue zone and needed to provide the pax with extra leg room since they paid for it. It didn't bother me for such a short sector but the person I spoke to said it was unacceptable and recorded feedback so it doesn't happen again.

Just spotted your comment. He has already gone, don't know what his PNR was. If it happens again I will send you a message.

By the way, I am not trying to deliberately have a go at Virgin, I like the airline but the website is just so problematic.

My advance seat selection seems to be linked to the use of one of my upgrade certificates.

I used a certificate to upgrade to J MEL-PER. I'm actually flying MEL-SYD-PER though. I could select a seat for the SYD-PER leg but not the MEL-SYD leg. Phoned up the Velocity WP line and a lovely lady fixed it up for me. :)

I do think that the input from VA is very different to QFF and made a big difference to me personally re Hilton status - however what happens to the guys who don't know about AFF and don't know that they can get support this way?

They benefit from the fact that VA are providing feedback from the user experience to those who are responsible for these things. I have had many discussions with the VA rep on this board (and via email) about bugs, glitches, issues and things that have come up. On some occasions it has involved asking him to fix something for me personally but 9 times out of 10 it is simply providing feedback about how a process could or should work better. I think the improvements to product over time show that they take this stuff seriously - although you obviously cant fix things like overhauling the website instantly.

I cant select seating for Blue Zone.
Is this normal?

Flight from PQQ to SYD yesterday. I had pre-selected row 2 when selection first became available. Did online check in on Wed and had been moved to row 16 and only 3 spare seats left on the plane by that time-ATR.

I think it's been mentioned previously that because the ATRs board from the rear and are served from the rear, the "best" seats are toward the rear.

Well, it shows from T-24h (but wasnt showing at T-14d) but it appears you cant OLCI anyway (exit row seating).

Selected 3C for my BNE-MEL flight when I booked a week ago. Turn up to the lounge this morning and get given a boarding pass for 4C?

Informed the angel that I had pre selected 3C, she phoned someone, indicating she had a DYKWIA (aka WP) who had been given a different seat, something about "swapping them" (sorry whoever that was, but I did have it first!), and shazzam, a new BP for 3C.

Not a big issue today, but would prefer if I dont have to go through the rigmarole too often DJ!
