I have a booking with mother on QF5 to SIN, then BA7309 (QF9) to LHR in PE. I have now selected PE seating for the BA7309 segment THREE times. Three times I have selected 24J,K (new config) and every time that I have checked again later, I have been moved. Once even to the middle section. It is really pissing me off as it is not something I should have to worry about. Does anyone know why this is the case? Is the BA codeshare something to do with it?

Have you tried seat selection on both the QF and BA sites using the separate PNR's?

It happens quite frequently. We had a similar thing happen on QF107 SYD-JFK, booked months in advance, and through status, seats selected so the five of us could be sat together-ish. The seating was changed several times over the lead up to the flight, as I presume, changes to QF metal and status-pax bookings changed the layout and availability of the seats. Each time we called QF customer service to get it sorted back again. From what I've been told, the final configuration of the flight is determined by the airline's Ops people just before the flight is opened for on-line checkin - so being prompt will hopefully get you the seating you desire.

As I'm sure others will point out, if you read the fine print, the airline only guarantees you a seat on the plane, it doesn't guarantee you the seat you want particularly. What you are putting in is a seating request - which they will endeavour to fulfil if possible.

I did a recent ADL-SYD-SIN-LHR-FRA return, where the ADL-SYD was QF/BA codeshare but the rest was straight BA metal.

There were two PNR's in the QF 'Manage my bookings' with identical itineraries. I used the PNR provided by our corporate TA and ignored the other PNR.

I was able to do seat selection for the ADL-SYD return flights in the QF website, but wasn't able to select the seats for the BA flights - I had to do seat selection for the BA flights through the BA website, using the same PNR.

When I checked in at ADL for the flight over, my seat selection (4C) for the ADL flight had been changed to 7F, and the same thing happened for the return flight (4D changed to 10D). I found out by looking at my luggage receipt that the QF flights were using the PNR I had ignored and the BA flights were on the PNR I had used which is why the selected seats had stuck.

So, I suggest check to see if you have two PNR's for the same flights and try using the BA website to select your seats for the BA flights.

Maybe also check through checkmytrip.com that you are using the correct PNR's for each of the flights.

This was booked through a TA on BA stock so I only have one PNR. Also, for some reason I can't seem to access the BA Seat Selection, only QF. It may have something to do with TA booking, but checkmytrip tells me everything is correct.

I guess I just have to hope the seating doesn't change again. Else I will call QF and inquire as to why!

Would going to my TA and asking them to input seat selection help?

You will more than likely find you indeed have two Amadeus PNR's.

Use classic.checkmytrip.com and they should show beside "Airline confirmation number(s):"

I still see only one. Qantas Airways.

It's a BA ticket.
IME, there have been two different PNR's in such situations (similar but different codes).

I'd call Qantas and BA separately, providing your details along with their respective flight number, asking them to provide their booking reference (don't advise the one you have).

If they are the same, them I am at a loss as to what to do next.
