Booked flight in August with seating 1A/1C selected (E90 operating). FF redemption ticket FWIW.

MyFlights tells me seating now moved to 1D/1F.

Interested in thoughts as to why?

Currently Silver with VA so wonder if trumped by a WP that for whatever reason demanded 1A? Or is there special equipment in 1A/C? Other thoughts?

Don't especially mind (any seats in VA J are fine!), but interesting nonetheless.

I'd doubt you've been trumped unless by a VIP. As a plat, all I can ever select is an available seat. There are no options that I can see to boot a silver! (and I doubt the GCC would do it either). I'd say perhaps on plane change (I agree that it looks like you've gone from a 738 to an E90) someone thought you are a couple that was seated together and would like to continue to sit together. I actually put 1A as the worst seat in J, but that's probably just me. Both 1A and 1B have very tiny overhead bins but the benefit is you definitely won't have a neighbour. The downside is you can tend to feel a little like you're a museum exhibit, stuck over ther on your own in full view of everyone.

FWIW, I always select row 2 as I find it more comfortable than row 1. Not a whole lot, but more stretch out room (no bulkhead in row 2) and the recline from 1 is no problem at all. In fact I've found myself thinking "they don't fly J often" when I see people in row 1 and no one in row 2! ;)

In short, my preferred seat in an E-Jet J is either 2D or 2F depending on time of day (whether sun is beaming in the window or not) or whether I'm flying over somewhere I think might be worth looking out the window at!

As indicated, there is no 1C on a VA E90, so you must have had an aircraft swap from a 737.

What is this magical powers of Plat trumping any seat selection... ;)
Yea, I can confirm no such thing exists. Although I wouldn't be surprised if elite "The Club" members could do so if they really wanted

I agree too, 1A on E190s are the worst :( Lucky for me on my flight, the person on 2F never boarded, so I switched seats before take off.
You'd have more legroom in Row 3!

Interesting, yes must have been a swap of aircraft. Thanks. I had thought it was an E90 when I booked but it lets me select 1A/C!

It's Mel-Syd so not worried about bulkhead (even at 6'4"). But note input re: legroom row 2.

But Swanning, I enjoy collecting my BPs that all say 1A,,, heh heh

Yeh I guess. I'm one of those oddbods who shreds the boarding pass as soon as points/SCs hit the account so comfort trumps DYKWIA in my sorry pathethic case. :(

(not very AFFish, am I? ;) )

lol,,, touche! And realistically, i only collect because the company makes me! for ratifying the credit card statements.

Def row 2 for extra stretch space. And I'd say not even the "elite" VIP's get it their own way. I was 2A going to CBR back in Jan, and the whining from a certain member of our countries leadership team was attrocious. I felt so sorry for the poor supervisor trying to placate him that I offered to move just to give J class some peace and quiet. He apparently always has 2A, it's in his instructions he said. So I felt better knowing that because I had it booked first, I got it.

Makes you wonder how the poor mite deals with the stresses of government if he/she can't deal with a different J seat!

;) I was left wondering how big the tantrum would be if they lost their seat in an election!!!
