Looking for a few ideas to gain 500 SCs in full taking advantage of this offer. Just wondering what is considered to be a good earn rate ($2 - $3 per SC?)

..and any particular routings (both dom and int) DJ mileage runners have taken to accrue SCs.

Thanks

Some of the gold coast premium fares are very attractive with the current double SC offer. OOL-MEL $385 in PE is pretty good for 120 SC with the promo!

One option that I've priced up ex-SYD that exploits cheap SCs on OOL fares is SYD-OOL-MEL (which can be done with a 'legal' connection on a Friday night, leaving SYD 6:10pm and arriving MEL at 23:25). Then MEL-OOL-MEL-SYD on Saturday. Doing all that in PE nets 520 SCs at $3.64/SC.

Personally, I might downgrade a couple of legs to flexis or savers because I don't really need the 'full' 520 SCs (I'm aiming to scrape into gold - I'm extremely unlikely to reach platinum, and don't see much marginal value in it over gold, so anything over 500 SCs is a bit of a waste).

Thank you for your suggestions. Are there any ways to get the SC earn rate down to ~$2 per SC ?

I am thinking about going for gold given the extension to the double sc offer - only problem is I am OS for 2.5 weeks on January... I can prolly get close though

I haven't spotted any. The odds seem fairly slim, given DJ's SCs-over-the-entire-one-way-trip rule. To get something below $2.50/SC at double SC earn you'd need to find a SYD-MEL fare (ie zone 1) at <$50 (saver), <$100 (flexi) or <$200 (PE). Or MEL-OOL at less than $75.

I thought I saw some of the lead-in ATR fares at $69? Perhaps Brisbane to Emerald? Even those would be $3.45/SC.

You'd just need to keep an eagle eye on the happy hour.

Well if it helps anyone, anyone who has got the Virgin Money Flyer card with the two-for-one flight offer attached, I have direct advice from Velocity that whatever class of ticket is purchased redeeming one of the two-for-one flights, both you, the the primary flier and passenger, and your co-flier both receive the full allotment of SCs. If someone is keen, you could devise a route where you and a co-passenger maximise your SCs and split the costs 50:50.

I'm really a bit miffed because I just spent two of my 2-for-1s on return Premium Economy flights from OOL to MEL and while we're both earning 120 SCs for the round trip, 240 would be a lot nicer!!!

Safe flying...

I'm thinking of maybe a quick trip across the tasman...

The offer extends to all partners and I notice airNZ has some decent offers when on special ($200 return tasman) and they also don't fall under the final destination rule like DJ flights do.

EDIT:
Can anyone tell me the fare class for Works Deluxe on the TT flights, are they credited as PE or Business? Also how do they market the business seats? (It's still a gem $300 for 60*2 SC's)

Note, AKL - SYD/BRIS is zone 2, but mel is zone 3.

Actually the T&C's still say "This offer is only available to those selected by Virgin Australia and is non-transferable" but given it was in the vmail they sent me, i reckon that includes me. I wonder if VA can clarfiy?

I reckon anyone that reads their website has been selected!

Did anyone not get it in a generic Vmail tonight (assuming you receive them?)

PS only just realised that much of what i posted above was already in the thread. I put it down to having been up since 2am.
