Whatever you think of Ryanair, sometimes their media releases have a certain style

Ryanair, Ireland favourite airline, today (17th June) condemned DAA Fat Cat boss Declan Collier's (who received a €600,000 salary last year) latest quango role while he continues to preside over two half empty terminals at Dublin Airport, and record traffic declines at the three DAA airports.

Mr Collier’s latest quango bauble, as President of the high cost monopoly airport association (Airport Council International), comes in addition to Mr Collier’s other quango role as Public Interest Director on the Govt owned AIB bank, where last year he was paid some €50,000 to rubber-stamp big payoffs for failed bank managers.

Having developed the €1.2bn white elephant T2 at Dublin Airport, and presided over a 40% fees increase at Dublin Airport last year, Mr Collier is ideally placed to advise the other monopoly airports on how to jack-up costs and destroy traffic while getting paid Fat Cat packages in return for failure.

Well here we have an airline who say what they really think! I can't think of any local examples of such bold (and personal) statements- maybe some lobbying has been happening to protect margin.

On a side note, followed the link- even the Ryanair website looks cheap...
... I used to have a pair of roller-skates in the same yellow/turquoise colouring.

Ireland's favorite airline?!

Hah!

And full credit to them for that, but I just wonder how many of the Irish see it as their flag carrier?... Now the Scots on the otherhand would fully embrace the LCC as their fave! ;)

Ireland really only has two carriers. As Aerlingus is a legacy carrier it is constantly strangled by unions with strikes, threats, delays and down right RUDE staff who have been flying too long.

Ryanair might not be known for outstanding customer service or a superb frequent flyer program or fancy meals and drinks onboard, they are loved for providing the opportunity to millions of Irish people to travel internationally for less than a domestic train ticket.

A return train ticket from Dublin to Cork (approx 2 hours) is €55.

For that money an Irish person could travel to just about anywhere in Europe....... That's what makes Ryanair Ireland's favourite airline.

Fair call. :)

I only flew them once so I couldn't comment too much from my own experiences. It's just that everyone I know that has flown RyanAir has always been none-too-pleased with them. Admittedly they were not Irish (Brits or Spaniards/Italians) - and I imagine the pride factor comes into play.

Still, RyanAir, EasyJet and Go Airlines (when they were around) are like TT, JQ and DJ - and they bring competition to the skies, and allow many pax to travel who may not have had the opportunity to before. For that - all LCC should be embraced. ;)

I used to flu Dublin to Gatwick or Stanstead every month and if booked at the right time I could get it for €15 return including all taxes and charges. Thats about $20. The cost of a meal on most LCC carriers now.

I think for what Ryanair charge there should be no complaints. I think Michael O'Leary is a legend, but thats just me....

I'm with you, mate.

I fly Ryanair from time to time, and you do get what you pay for (probably more). I also fly easyJet quite a bit, and they're actually IMHO quite good, better than FR really.

And if you were to think I was some sort of head in the clouds, novice flyer, I am Gold on Star, OneWorld and Emirates.

I just know what I like...
