Ryanair considers in-flight credit card toilets | Travel | News.com.au

RYANAIR are a step closer to charging passengers to poo after asking Boeing to design credit card-operated toilets.

"We're suggesting they go back and look at a mechanism where you'd swipe the credit card for a quid on the toilet door. They've gone off to look at that… We are serious."

I wonder what extra charge they will come up with next.......

I can't say that I would not have flown them but it's another good reason IMHO not to even entertain the idea :!:

Would they make exceptions for .....:?:

They could make it a Prepaid Potty Payment as an optional extra at the time of booking the fare, offered at a discount rate. You could choose the Prepaid Environmental Emptying fee or the Prepaid Overflow Output fee giving the passenger the choice of paying the PEE fee or the POO fee.

And if you had paid the POO fee and discovered it needed only to be the PEE fee........

i hate to imagine what would happen if your credit card failed to work...maybe there will be another use for the airline sickness bags:rolleyes:

On the plus side, I don't think there is a facility to verify the transaction in real time with the card issuer.

What about unaccompanied minors? They are not generally well known for carrying credit cards.

I guess it would only be a matter of time before your average stag party returning from one of the party hotspots find a cunning new use for an empty water bottle....

Certainly. It's one of those ideas may cause more problems than its worth.

I didn't think that Ryan Air or most LCC's allowed unaccompanied minors. That is left for full service airlines.

I notice there's no word from Boeing yet on if this is true though...

Will the fee charged be time based?

What if your visit was "unsuccessful". Would you be able to recover the money on the basis that the service wasn't actually provided?

Wonder if you can get two for the price of one??? Or will they charge more for mile high club contenders?

Ah, but the fee would be for 'access' to the service, not for 'successful use' of the service... so in which case they would be fulfilling their end of the contract.

But my end would not have been fulfilled

Rather gives a new meaning to the term "Pound on the door" doesn't it.

Can somebody please close this thread before the puns get any worse? :)
