He already has!! Go back to the original thread about QF, EK and oneworld. You'll find his very clear response. Also look at comments from QF on its website, statements made by Alan Joyce, and statements from senior oneworld executives in New York.

How many times does the same thing need to be said by the same people to dispel groundless, unfounded - and often malicious - rumours ?

+1

Well said!

No disrespect but I wouldn't want to rely on Alan Joyce's word. Ever.

Indeed it is. A fitting member of ScaryTeam
I actually rate DL as one of the best domestic carriers (not including their shocking 'SkyPesos' FF program).

I have had the (dis)pleasure of flying UA twice this year (and for the first time) and have no idea why people would ever fly them by choice. It was an experience I would never want to replicate (so much so i'm doing the StarMegaDo next month on a charted UA a/c, and all my flights around the place apart from this are on AA).

DL probably just pips AA for CS experience, and UA is somewhere below Tiger (well, not quite but it felt like it).

Qantas is the only full service airline of Australia and I think the only way of Qantas leaving oneworld is if Qantas chooses to do so. And Qantas would only leave oneworld to join another alliance so no loss of value for QF or QFF. From a totally selfish point of view though I would like to see Qantas joining Star Alliance. With Air Canada and Lufthansa I would get much better access to Europe and Canada.. Don't see it happen though..
Not for long. DJ will be all inclusive early next year (and have already started on the PER runs and to/from CBR from SYD, but it is rolling out).

IMHO *A is an average-at-best alliance. The only great thing (which I told Oneworld reps in DFW at the OneworldMegaDo earlier this year) is consistent baggage rules between alliance partners. The OW people said "yes we hear about that a lot" but would not mention if they were actually planning or attempting to implement the same on that.

The mere fact that *A only has 2 elite levels opens up the issue of lounge access. Just about every *A carrier has Business and First lounges, and First lounges become the domain purely of the home carriers FF elite echelons. Great for the carrier, bad for the elite that can easily gain F lounge access on OW carriers.

I also don't rate any carrier very highly on *A, with the exception of NZ, which has a nice product (providing you're not on an A320).

Just my 2c though.

Like all the alliances it depends on which part of the world you are in, I think *A have some very good carriers. NZ (long haul), NH, OZ, SQ and maybe even TG (although there's always something not quite right about TG), are all up there with (or debatably better than) the best in oneworld. Get outside of Asia/SW Pac and the standards seem to fall quickly in * - but then they do in oneworld as well - although TK seems to be getting good reviews recently, perhaps by virtue of being close to the ME carriers.

I used to rate SQ very highly, but i've heard from a lot of people now, it's just not what it used to be and the 'Singapore Girl' reputation has slipped (ie, not the same wonderful service regardless of class). I also won't fly them as i've heard first hand of too many maintenance issues (to me, getting rid of aircraft before they get old is not a prelude to a strong safety culture for any aircraft maintenance schedule).
