Was just on the phone now to QF, asking question(s) and being honest with how their site has gone down hill. Also asked about if "ASA are gonna be disintegrated" (ditched!), in which the 1st thing he said was NO THEY AREN'T. They will infact be re added to the website sometime later (how soon is?????).

He aggreed (<-- spelt?) with me that they must have had too many FF's not happy about the changes / enhancements, especially in regards to ASA....

Just updating you all on what I was just told!

Thanks for letting us know :)
I really hope this is true ( all my fingers and toes crossed  )

*sigh*

When you asked if "ASAs are going to be disintegrated", did you explain what you meant by ASA?

For the millionth time, people, most people at Qantas don't understand that what we are missing are ASAs at Classic Award prices. Of course ASAs will continue to exist, just at prices that none of us would pay for unless we had points to literally burn.

If you did explain properly then I have no problem with that - outrage withdrawn

Was told the same a couple of weeks ago. Really really hope it is true, but not holding my breath waiting. And I have booked a year's worth of JASAs in case it goes the other way.

Edit: And for Anat0l's benefit, when I was told it was in the middle of booking a JASA so in the context of that I believe they meant "proper" xASAs.

I even was honest enough to say to him whenever someone rings, most staff don't know what we're talking about.....

He seemed to get that ASA can't be booked online anymore, but they will be back online.... Grrrrrr..... Wish I recorded the call! (upgraded to a new phone last week!)....

Was on the phone for over 40 minutes, mainly for other reasons...

Didn't need to explain, he knew I was in a S)(*Y mood, and as "this call wil be recorded" I still don't think I let him know more then enough that since all the upgrades to the website, it's been cough since!

He also said that they have had many many FF's ringup in regards to ASA's, and they MAY HAVE got the message that it would save them time, and make it easier for us if it was done online....

Also complained that when a booking is made, why can't we see the booking class before it's finalised? (Bla bla bla....) ---> It will be too confusing for most people who book (the NON FF's!), but once you see the sale far (or whenever your booking!), to just ring up with the details, asking what the booking class is........

I said not good enough!

Shall I ring up again? (asa's!), this time my recording program seems to be working (just did a test call..)

I wouldn't worry about ringing them back and recording the conversation. I doubt one phone agent's comments are going to change QAN policy if it differs. (Although one pollie's letter did change the fate of the Nowingi toxic dump)!

But thanks for the optimistic possibility that online JASAs will return.

Re: QF Booking Class?

Red Roo should be back here soon for the big announcement is my feeling, ASA's back online, yep housands of QFF flyers looking forward to it.

Re: QF Booking Class?

Of course there are two aspects to look at:

1. Being able to book online.
2. What cost?

I fear 2. will be the issue.

Re: QF Booking Class?

This topic was a hot one at my meeting with the Qantas RGM this afternoon and we spent probably 35 minutes talking through the various history, issues, perceptions, rumours of ASA's. He was well informed and had an excellent handle on the issue.

Will put together a summation soon...I'll probably beat Red Roo

Re: QF Booking Class?

As an aside, do you think QF could have saved themselves a LOT of misery by being upfront about the general changes to their website? Why was there not a "lead up" campaign about the booking site changes, selling it's benefits, telling us it was happening in stages, what to expect etc. I really do feel that they invested all this time and money in the changes (I assume), but then did a soft launch that left people confused and agitated.

Probably because each time they have such a "campaign" we all deride it as spin.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how it all goes.

My money (no pun intended) will be that the ASA as we know it may be coming back, but if anything rather begrudgingly, and with increased co-pay and less flexibility.

Perhaps we should make a concerted effort to ask each CSA about this when making a MASA booking.

FWIW I told the CSA when I did my booking that it would be much better if we could do it online. She replied that it gave them business and therefore a job. As I was her first MASA I am not sure we are generating that much employment.

I think Any Seat awards are going to return.

They may not be as cheap as before (how much more expensive would be a wild guess) and I believe some of the multi-sector complex routings going from nowhere to nowhere will not be available.

Just a hunch....

At the risk of getting flamed.... ASA's can still be booked online.

I do wonder if there's confusion with the terminology when talking to QF staff about ASA's... because we really mean MASAs.

Well I haven't moved any MR points from Amex to QF since MASAs were introduced. That's already 250,000 that may be directed elsewhere (that would have been spent on JASAs). Yes, I know you can still ring and ask, but I simply don't have the time and it isn't nearly as convenient. Still unsure what the strategy should be going forward...

this has been discussed up thread. There are a number of reasons, wrt the T&Cs of the program, for saying that what is available on line is not a ASA. On the flip side are claims that they can still be booked online. I know what I believe and I'm happy for you to believe what you believe.

Can't wait to hear this, but have low expectations for some reason.

We have discussed this upthread and I made a rather big note about that.

From here on in I am assuming that when we talk about ASAs amongst ourselves here (and possibly Red Roo), we know we mean "MASAs". When we talk about ASAs amongst the other Qantas staff, I am assuming most people are careful enough to imply or explain that we mean MASAs, i.e. ASAs priced at Classic rates.
