Rugby World Cup 2015

I suspect most of the wallabies have already picked themselves. This is probably a mix of last chance saloon for some (Quade). But in spite of my bullish mood for an AB win. The wallabies ambushed us last week!!' So I'm not giving anyone any points head start.
Playing in Sydney and playing in Auckland are not one and the same, last year wasnt it a draw at home and then loss by 20 next week in Auckland. I also think its not only the Wallabies playing around with their selections in the lead up to the World Cup. The All Blacks have been doing it and anyone who thinks the Boks result is a true indication of their strength probably also needs to understand they have a few prime replacements that will probably be made for the RWC. Nice to see them beaten of course but Im really not reading that much into it.

Sitting next George Gregan in F lounge on Wednesday
Before team announcement
Interesting chat about how they put the telecast and commentary together
Was its something like "let Phil Kearns talk a load of bollocks then bring in George or Kafer as to what the rules really are in the game"?

No probably more along the lines of beating the AB's by 50 at Eden park and taking home the RWC

Laws not rules
Rugby Pedant;)
Well if you are really going to be pedantic, while the IRB may call them laws I doubt that they would meet the more normal definition of a law as any rule that if broken subjects a party to criminal punishment or civil liability. While many of the governance structure in rugby set themselves up as a pseudo-legal structure I doubt they would actually survive in a real court.

The Laws are probably called that as they were originally drawn up (at the inaugral meeting of the RFU in 1871) by 3 lawyers.

History of the Laws

My late father used to ask the trick question "How many rules are there in Rugby Union?" at quizzes, which I suspect is why it stuck

And the IRB has recently rebranded to World Rugby, but maybe I should stay out of it.

Yes, well I guess some of us aren't fooled by rebranding, it's the same old IRB, nothing has changed except the name. And back to my original point calling something a Law doesn't make it one, though clearly some are prepared to believe easier than others.

Like all branding really, it doesn't have to be true if you get enough people believing it is.

The ABs had a resounding victory over the Wallabies tonight at Eden Park.

Nonu played well for AB and Quade had a brain fade to get 10 mins in the bin for the high contact in front of the posts that gave the ref no option but a penalty try. AB's took advantage and scored 3 tries. Was all over then...

Who replaced Cooper? Did he even come back on the field?

Is New Zealand's PM planning to fly a 787 to pick up the World Cup to take it back to NZ?

nah didn't come back. be interested to see who plays the fiji game vs the england and welsh games. would expect very different teams.

Nonu was a class above in the midfield last night. meanwhile Kurindrani seemed missing from the wallabies.

ABs selectors did a great job with getting Quade in the side
Hopefully he won't get a plane to the UK now

"Beale", I was watching in the Perth VA lounge with my cousin , I said to him at the time, " cooper won't be back now, he has reverted to type". Sure enough.........
Cooper may go to the WC. There is a chance the Wobblies won't even get to play the AB's. Anything can happen ( and often does) there won't be the same advantage / disadvantage with home / away grounds. So he may be more settled and left to play his natural game.

I was out earlier and haven't seen the game. Do I both, or would the 80 mins be better spent?

I saw only the second half. I have it recorded at home, so I shall watch on Thursday.
If you are an Aussie, it may be too much to bear. But it is always better to watch and see what happened for yourself IMHO

No Surprises from the ABs they are truely the best in the world, they just had a week off last week

They are so much better than the rest, but it has been good to win the Rugby Championship, beat the ABs and feel good for a week
