Rugby World Cup 2015

Playing in Sydney and playing in Auckland are not one and the same, last year wasnt it a draw at home and then loss by 20 next week in Auckland. I also think its not only the Wallabies playing around with their selections in the lead up to the World Cup. The All Blacks have been doing it and anyone who thinks the Boks result is a true indication of their strength probably also needs to understand they have a few prime replacements that will probably be made for the RWC. Nice to see them beaten of course but Im really not reading that much into it.

Mmmmm. So you are saying that the Boks coach said. "Ok boys, I already know who the team is, just go out and play bollocks rugby to out fox everyone"....... I don't think so.

Writing was on the wall before cooper's high tackle but it did reinforce my prejudices.

Interesting to hear that burgess put in a reasonable display v france

No Surprises from the ABs they are truely the best in the world, they just had a week off last week

They are so much better than the rest, but it has been good to win the Rugby Championship, beat the ABs and feel good for a week

You do know that the winner of the Rugby Championship (or its predecessor the Tri Nations), has never won the RWC? Sounds like a good one to lose to me.

Well, no I didn't say anything like that! But the Boks showed in the last RWC year they really don't care much about the Rugby Chanpionship, so yes they did totally underestimate the opposition, they played around with a few players who are at best fringe for the RWC. Did they want to win, of course teams always want to win, but they certainly weren't passionate about winning like the Argentineans were. The last two weeks should have thought all of us how important passion is.

So putting it back to you, do you think Michael Cheika told his team to play like cough? Probably not but they still did.

Do I think that is a reflection of how they will play at the RWC, well no, I suggest the same for them, one game in itself doesn't tell you everything about a team!

I was out earlier and haven't seen the game. Do I both, or would the 80 mins be better spent?

Probably worth watching the first half at least. the first 20 to 30 minutes gave a fleeting glimpse of the game the wallabies are probably trying to achieve. The second half was hard to watch, almost walked away at 60 minutes, but hung in until the end.

Nope. I don't think he did. What I do think is that the aberration was the week before. Hats off to the wallabies. They played well in Sydney. The AB's were clearly not there. They were poor. I suspect the wallabies knew that, and hype aside, deep down they never had the belief they could take them at Eden Park.
Playing QC was ( I suspect) more about seeing if there was a place for him on the bus come September. Australia have the toughest pool at the WC, MC needs to have players that don't buckle under pressure.
I don't believe that NZ will have it all their own way. I think Ireland are the dark horse, and any of the top 5 sides could take it.

Tickets for the Saturday 1/4 final in Cardiff arrived this morning to NZ,
Didn't receive an email saying they were on the way.

Do you have a flight to NZ booked Infiniti? Those Kiwis think they have a mortgage on that cup.

They are still red hot favourites but have a record of choking when not at home for a RWC.

Still I've never met a Kiwi that has bought a return trip flight ticket when leaving NZ, that's why Sydney is the third biggest city in NZ, so even if we win the RWC the Kiwis are mostly already here to check it out!

Na the only cup we seem to have a mortgage on is the bledisloe :)
I wouldn't bet against any of the 6 or 7 teams capable of actually winning the World Cup

Sorry but that particular piece of news is out of date, with the Kiwi economy tracking somewhat better than here.

Still, yes there are plenty of Kiwis in OZ.

Today's match against the USA was not pretty to watch. Though not Australia's strongest side, if they play like that again Uraguay will fancy their chances. England and Wales will certainly have enjoyed it.

Oh, and a note to the marketing geniuses who came up with the Wallabies tag line "believe"... The unstated message is "we're no hope and in desperate need of devine intervention."

What can I say, this whole thing about "holding hands, thinking positive thoughts and singing Kumbaya" has gone a bit far. There has been too much spin with the Wallabies in recent years and now they want the supporters to join in?

I think the wallabies need overt displays of support. It has to lift the team.

As for the US game, the teams seemed pretty even. Always a good thing when that happens. The crowd was pretty ugly at Ballymore many years ago when the wallabies ran out a 100+ score against the eagles. How about the Eagles winger?

The Wallabies needed a tough defensive hit out from the USA and got it in spades

Its all about peaking at the right time,

Win pool A then lift going into the finals series
