Have a great trip Shanye2233.

We look forward to seeing a trip report when you get back with all the tips that did (and didn't) work!

When our kids were younger we made thenm wear a whistle when we were out. Plan was if they got lost they could blow the whistle until we found them.
Have a great time

We write our hotel name / room or mobile phone number on the kids arms with a permanent marker when going to a theme park or other busy place.

You can also get a set of printed wristbands with child's name and a mobile number. From those places that make sticker name labels

I'm in egpyt the Thai flight in F was really good the MS flight in J was good as wwell on the 777. The lounge In cario has very poor internet . I have sleep one wink my wife and kids slept well on both flights .

The staff on both airlines know your using points and there is a considerable difference in the service. The TG buggy meet us at BKK and was a long ride to the connecting ticket office.
Mmy 28 degrees card now shows in credit .
Also TG or MS lost one of our checked baggage don't know which one I oonly checked 3 ATM they can only find two .

Shanye2233, congrats on getting on that first plane and making it to Egypt! I look forward to following your travels in this thread. I hope you ended up getting travel insurance as has been mentioned as some funny things seem to always attract themselves to you!

That is interesting what you say about being treated differently because your tickets were bought on points, I have never experienced that and wouldn't have thought it would occur.

How do you know they lost one of your baggage? Did you have to collect it again in Cairo, as I thought it would have been checked all the way through.

Im Hilton Paris in exec lounge very busy not even a seat ! At BKK when I checked into Egyptair they said they ccould only find two checked bags and missing third one. She asked if I oonly checked in 2 llucky I kept the stubs with 3 they found it and yes it was checked all the way thru to CDG.
I tried to be clever at CDG and organized a private transfer to the hotel for the ssame costs as
A taxi but something very suspicious with the driver and how we found him it's a llong story and my
wife screaming not to get into that car with these men. They didn't speak English nor kknow what hotel to ttake us to.
I gave them 50euro and said sorry and we
caught taxi. The mmeter in the cab said 28euro but driver demanded
50euro for 4 pax and alot of bags! Unfortunately we only in Paris one day for
shopping and being a Sunday all shops are cclosed or open at midday so miss out. Also dangerous walking down side streets men standing in driveways must stay on the main paths. I leave for CDG in 2 hours the day spa (turkish baths) are something not to miss the roof has all fairy lights.
I check back in when I arrive in Zagreb !

That's great that you enjoyed the flights and got an upgrade, especially when you had reservations with travelling on Egypt Air. You haven't answered Flashware's question which you quoted, which airline did you feel treated you differently because you were on award tickets?

Have a great time in Croatia and hopefully you feel a bit more settled now you are in the one spot for a while before your travelling adventure continues on to LA.

Shanye2233, you also never answered my question about which airline how you managed to get Star Alliance gold, which I found strange as you had never travelled overseas before and there are no Star Alliance airlines in Aus!

Good to know. We are looking at going to Japan for our 1 year wedding anniversary and tossing up between TK with a stopover in IST and MS with a stopover in Cairo.

FWIW, everyone I know who has travelled in the past 12 months on TG J & F on award tickets, has not been in any way made to feel like they were treated any differently so was it MS then?

The trip is a US DM redemption - I dont think he is *A Gold, he's just receiving the same benefits because he's travelling J and F.

I am a *A gold I got a match with NZ was very very hard . MS was on the 777 had nice wide seats food was nice service better than TG. I think most of the TG staff are realizing alot of US awards comin thru and lower there standards. I wouldn't pay extra miles to go from F to J on TG.
I didn't get a chance to drive from Croatia to Italy as they were having earthquakes my wife was against it and I didn't ffeel safe so I left it for the next trip .

In flight terms everything has ran smoothly I also got upgraded to F on LH I asked at the FCT you get a personal assistant whom I told I paid for a F award but only got a J seat , she told me they would call US but should be ok and cacame back and told me its fine no extra charge .
Im currently at the ritz Carlton in la live been here for 3days now unfortunately we arrived the night the la kings won the Stanley cup and it has been chaos here. The rest of the flights mmy wife has is a J ON ANA and J on NZ. I have a Y on NZ coming up from LAX to AKL . I'm counting on a UG to
F/J or PE at least .

Disneyland it's a must the rides are awesome I brought mmy tickets off eBay for about half price and didn't have any issues. There is also a disabled pass if your entitled to it will save you hours of waiting for rides .

All these flights I took in business , first class for myself personally wasnt worth it and I would say the same for the average person. What is more important is the aircraft type. If your in a old confi in F or in a new A380 in J it's easier the better choice . Although coming out of Sydney in J there was about 20 seats I think 2-3-2 and in F only 8 seats so it's more private .
Next time I go I'm really going to look into the aircraft type before I book. Even at the FCT yeah it was impressive , I saw at the end of the hall a spa menu and requested one thinking it was complementary and ended up paying 90euro .

If there is any questions I'm happy to answer .

Still does not explain why you would have to pay miles to go from F to J.

BTW the qantas A380 is 2-2-2 in J.

tg crew do not differentiate service between paid and award bookings whatsoever. I don't think booking class is even on the manifest pinned up in the galley.

You've said that you have all sorts of Status matches with lots of airlines in other threads but you haven't travelled much. I'm still trying to work out if you earnt some sort of Gold status legitimately on one airline through lots of flying then matched it to all the others or if you found some way to get status one one airline without flying and then matched it to the others.

Can you please tell us how you did this?
