So you don't believe Yassmin Abdel-Magied when she said on Q&A that Islam is the most feminist religion.I would need to see the evidence that the majority of people in Brunei, with free will, accept sharia law, and do not believe in equality for women. If that can be shown, then good on them. And indeed the current campaign might be misplaced.
As to what muslims believe how about this.

Now I couldn't find any research exclusive to Brunei but there is this-

I can't see why muslims in brunei would be any different to their neighbours Malaysia and Indonesia where 86% and 72% respectively support Sharia law.
