Rockfords discussion

Anyone able to tell me how busy the cellar door is following Basket Press release?
Planning to go down on the Wednesday 3rd of March with a few friends.

Spoke to Corinne at Rockfords about any re-start of their lunches.

Yes, planning to re-start them soon. Capacity down 25% to 12, and no longer able to do the shared big table 😢 which has been retired to a shed (for a while). Replaced with several inwards-facing tables, so still facilitating group interaction..

At first, they will be contacting people who had cancelled bookings last year to offer new bookings, but only about 2 months out. SO if you had a booking last year in June, you might expect a contact in April. But its still being worked out, so don't hold me, or them, to that.

Did you have a cancelled AFF booking last year @Buzzard ?

Axing the shared big table is not necessarily a bad thing. I recall some rather annoying groups in previous years and I’m sure some have thought the same about our group :p

Btw that space has been used as private tasting room when we were there in October last year.

Appreciate if you're in the area, you may as well stop by. As I'm in QLD I'm waiting till the 1st to send an email to order it.

On another note, has anyone bought tickets for the Barossa Vintage Festival... I note there was/is a Rockford event? I have bought tickets myself for that and hope to be there.

Rockfords are not taking bookings for CD tastings given the current restrictions. They are also limited to group numbers I think no more than 6. I am not sure if this impacts how busy the CD is. Looking forward to getting there towards the end of March.

That seems odd. I would’ve thought that with the restrictions it would be all the more reason to take bookings.

Edit: Maybe their experience is too many no shows to rely on bookings.

An email will be sent very soon.
I have been contact by Rockford but it's a tough life swimming, studying for my boat license, enjoying oysters etc

Answering my own question.
Arrived 10.50 as a party of 4. Another party of 2 was before us.
They currently have two spaces for tastings so we got in immediately - by the time we left at 11.35 there was a good 30 people waiting outside and the carpark was almost full.
Was told this wasn't that busy for the period of the year following BP release.

Advice please. I’d like to get a bottle of great Rockfords wine for a wedding in Sydney. Obviously he loves top quality. What chances and what should I get - there is a wine cellar close by that is a member of the cellar and they had Alicante in stock last year when no one else did.

I was at west beach cellars today and there is a bottle of basket press there.
I grabbed a bottle of the black Shiraz.

Which wine?

Which wine?

I think that's the question. :)

@Pushka Basket Press Shiraz is the top drop; Black Shiraz (sparkling) would always be welcome too . Others are great, but maybe lacking the 'special gift' thing.

You could call Rockford and say you are a visitor and where can you get it in Adelaide .. or even Sydney.

Hey all,

I didn't realise there was a dedicated thread to Basket Press.

Do you think it's ok to pay $100? Found some locally.

I contacted Rockford, lady mentioned there's no minimum purchase in order to gain membership.
Cellardoor list says $75, I assume members only and when allocated.
What else is recommended? I'm not a bit drinker, prefer to just buy premium wines for now, so only ordering for access to Basket Press down the line.

Thanks 👍
