Rockfords discussion

Really... You must be the only one ;)

How’s the 16’ BP?
It's having a lay down in the cellar, I don't want to disturb it for a little while... even with my trusty Coravin ;)
I went to the web site today, thinking I should order something. Ooops ... already maxed out all the limited purchases. Moral - check collection before going to web site.
I would have thought given they're not selling Black Shiraz and Basket Press at the cellar door, they might open up more allocation to Stonewallers (unless all sold out?). You'd really think cash flow would be king more than ever now.
I'm hoping they also open it up a little more to Bud Burst Brigade, as I managed 3 bottles earlier in the year but wouldn't say no to another 3 now, and cash is king, right? Might have to give them a call next month... looking at the Shiraz VP as well and I realise this isn't being released till May.
Let me know how that goes. Might be worth letting them know that if Stonewallers are meant to be allowed to order more that the website is preventing them and this is surely causing them loss of income.
I imagine most would just phone instead, but I've heard the phone lines are busy, and web orders would solve that issue.

Just looking at the Rockfords website now.
Talks about the Basket Press but for walk ins, and it doesn't appear on the order form.
I might have to give them a call next week as I am also after the Shiraz VP which is also not on the order form.

Not for me. At least not via the online ordering form.
Ditto, so I'll call today.

Bugger the expense, Rather than the effort expended on posting here, give them a call ;)

I spoke to Luke at Rockys - no delay on the phone being answered. Stonewallers allocation of BP was increased from 6 to 12. No other changes.

The Alicante, which I was after, is sold out (I think Buzz alerted us to the fact that it was in short supply some time ago - I got more then) It had a bit of a bump in supply as Rockford bought back from restaurants stock of Alicante being held. But well and truly gone now.

So, unless you want more BP, the on-line form is OK to use. I mentioned to Luke the web site not allowing the extra BP for Stonewallers.

Not my experience with Todd, the Dry Country Grenache is temporally available to Stonewallers via post - not just in person, and there is a museum vine vale available

Received an email back today from my queries, and the answer was that there is not an increased allocation for Bud Burst Brigade. I can live with this, but feel that they're likely to sell less (well, zero actually) from walk-ins so it could really be expanded to include Bud Burst as well.

They did send an updated (April) order form that seemed to suggest the 2019 White Frontignac was sold out as well, but nothing noted on the Alicante status, so I feel this is probably an error on paper. I'll wait till May and the Shiraz VP to be released, then might give them a call and try for some more BPS again. Who knows. With @Buzzard's help this year I already have my fill of the SBS :)

I've got some current vintage BP. Would they have any older vintages up their sleeve do you think? Worth a call or barking up the wrong tree?

They do have a 'museum' collection. Some got offered to Stonewallers a few years ago IIRC. No harm in making a call, but I doubt they would make an ad-hoc release.

So it would appear that I have another 6 BP that I don't want.
*raises hand* :p

Do you think they'd be more likely if it was to fill in (provable) gaps in a vertical?

As suggested gave them a call.
Shiraz VP will be on the new list that is meant to be posted in the next few weeks, early May.
With the Basket press I would have to call for that one, so once the letter arrives in the mail I give them another call.
Will be able to prime my credit card for the purchase.

I signed up with them as I liked all of their wines (except the fronti as it is a bit sweet for me) when I first visited - most CD's I visit I like less than half

Tidying up, found some forgotten Black Shiraz. Moving boxes around so we can get to the bookshelves. Might need to think about better wine storage, might add a vintec fridge to our reno plans.
More of a pary way through photo than a before photo!

I’d already moved a few boxes by the time I took this pic.

And now all the nice wine boxes are under the kitchen bench, near the full champagne fridge.

That's way too accessible for me. I hide my Rockford underneath a bunch of other stuff, under the stairs. That way, if I'm feeling liquid 'peckish' it will need some determination to broach the good stuff. Every couple of years I have a sort and if there is stuff that needs to be drunk because of age, that's easily accomplished!

I guess we really lack suitable storage in this house (renovated workers cottage) - typical cottage/Qlder style lacking cupboards. Our stairs are open, and there is already wine shelving built in to them - but they're full with the cheap and cheerful stuff (only holds about 30 bottles).
We're thinking of some renovations, and I'm now considering making sure we can put a Vintec or similar fridge in the storage part of the reno. Because storing these wines inside a house in Brisbane is already sub-optimal from a temperature perspective! :)
