Rockfords discussion

Not sure where they got these "RRP" from, but both are excellent wines.

Wow - pleased I made the Stonewallers!
Incidentally, I had a 2004 SVS Flaxman a couple of nights ago. Lovely drinking - but would say that I wouldn't hang on to it for a lot longer as there's just a sense that the fruit is diminishing. I think I'll find reasons to dispatch the 2002 and 2004s reasonably soon.

Just noticed this thread. And, by chance, had received an email yesterday re a Rockford dinner in Melbourne, if anyone is interested.

It's at City Wine Store, Spring Street, on Monday 5 October, and includes the 2012 and 1998 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz.
Alas, I can't attend (will be in Europe) but I've been to many of the CWS events over many years and always enjoy them.

Wish I could be there or for one of the other October events. :)

I am possibly going to that.

We were lucky enough to try the 1998 at Rockford a few years back. Was drinking well at the time, so I dare say it will be in its prime now.

FWIW, I have tried all the wines on the list except the 2012 Basket Press, but it should still be a good dinner with Ben and Lyn on hand.

Ah, another CWS fan? :)

In this case I meant Ben and Lyn from Rockford, but yes, I am certainly a CWS fan also.

I've been a customer of all their businesses for a while, and spent more time and money than I should indulging in their excellent "products".

Surprising that we haven't crossed paths there. Between us, we must be shoring up their profits. :)

I still remember the 1996 we tried a couple of months back ;)

I'd love to, but my budget doesn't stretch that far at the moment :(

I found a Rockford in my cellar. Must have been a birthday present as I know I never bought it myself. It is time I spent a few hours looking down there instead of grabbing recent purchases when we go out. Mrscove is a non drinker so I rarely drink a good red at home by myself. I think I have 2 Rockfords down there as there was one in a 6 selection case from a few years ago. My wife used to go to Vintage Cellars but stopped when Coles messed up the range and pricing. She would get a list from a guru and more than half were not available in the VC store.
