Rockfords discussion

I went to Barossa Valley with a few friends last weekend and Rockfords was the universal fav of the few wineries we hit. Having a private area for Stonewallers to taste wines in a quieter spot definitely helps. The whites were a pleasant surprise for most and great value, out of the reds most people sprung for the Moppa Springs or the Basket Press (used up my full allocation plus some).

I'm glad to hear the BP was considered worth buying.

What are your thoughts on the current Black Shiraz?

They were also saying the 2019 vintage should be a cracker but very low yields so buy as soon as it's released. They expect it to be sold-out by members in the first round and probably limited to 3 bottles each.

I'm not a huge fan of the Black Shiraz but I tend to get a bottle or two for parties anyway. Didn't blow anyone away in my group this year.

edit: I should note that the Rifle Range is my favourite from the line-up this year.

Nothing on HH or JH on either of these 2 wines.

Rockfords doesn't send wines out to reviewers (they don't need to since they already have a following and no need to risk the reputation they've built up from collectors). I know HH doesn't specifically buy wines for the reviews.

At the cellar door I was told I my allocation was up to 12 bottles of BP this year (which I promptly maxed out lol).

I also appear to have maxed out :(

Funny thing is I could get 18 BP this year if I wanted. Original 6 + 6 still available when I log in, 3 each for +1 and I on the tour.

I suspect I could get some if I went on the tour, but I have enough to satisfy my cravings for now.

Any word on Magnums this year?

I heard the '13's would be available about June/July ('12 still available)
