Roaches in SYD F Lounge

Visited my favourite lounge on thurs night this week on the way back to HKG.

There were small coughroaches in the lounges closest to the entrance!

Not one but several were seen, we alerted the cleaners who apologised but not sure if they looked into it too much.

Might be time for a top up fumigation... the food, service and amenities were otherwise excellent as always.

I will try my 120 kg foot tester on them tomorrow. They can survive a nuclear hit but most cannot handle the foot test.

While not something you want to see in a public food service environment, they're bloody hard to keep at bay. Despite giving my house all the treatments they still turn up. Suggestions welcome.

With Australia being the most city-centric nation anywhere in the world (we have the lowest percentage of residents who live in rural environments, with the exception of city states such as The Vatican and Singapore), it's an ideal breeding ground for coughroaches.

Increasingly, I see the not so small blighters in temperate climate Melbourne (albeit usually very hot for part of summer, but dry).

It surprises me that they are not seen more often at Australian airports given the frequency with which crumbs must be dropped behind seating in airport lounges.

Very hard to keep roaches away when food is eaten (and spilled) everywhere. And travellers park their bags introducing them too (yes travellers do carry roaches with them).

Constant treatment is the only course of action. Qantas will be onto it and sort it out.
