Since there is a thread for the BIS Platinums, it got me thinking about us status matched variety.

Obviously there are two distinct groups, based on either the v1 status match (in October 10), or the August 11 variety.

We (some of us) have also had the pleasure of being given one or two double status credits Promo's - just to help us along with booking VA and comparing.

Me - well flying has been non-existent until finally next week with a BNE/SYD/BNE to finally get some SC's on the board.

What about other fellow (and lady) status matchers?

I'm both status match types. First getting Gold until August 2012 and now Plat until almost the same date.

Due to the various changes of expiry date with both matches, my SC earning has effectively been for nothing. However, my current 12 month SC balance is 377, just short of the gold requal amount. So I do feel I've put in the miles to justify the status match. Of those SC only 130 will count towards requalification in August 2012.

I don't think I can use the double status at this stage.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I was an original status match person as well and currently sit on 754 SCs, with 60 since the Plat match came through at ordinary earn. I see no issues retaining Gold and had in fact done so the very day the Platinum match was announced, with LTG for QF this year I can see no issue with a requal or higher with DJ.

The SC earn with DJ takes a little bit of getting used to with BNE-TSV at the entry level compared to two level for QF, at least I dont commute OOL-TSV which is 1 mile short of the next earning bracket

I don't plan on retaining Velocity status.

My Matched status is nice, but my BIS NZ GE should prove more useful overall. I'll still get access to DJ lounges before domestic Oz DJ flights as a NZ *G/*E.

SMed Platinum in August. Had already flown quite a few PE reward DJ flights, but would say flying was 85% QF, 15% DJ until the week before the grounding.

The combo of the status match (eliminating the lounge access hurdle), double SCs and the Purvinas comments meant I flipped - now 90% DJ, 10% QF. Only sad thing is I've now missed my chance to experience the F-lounge, as moved my international flights to DJ (to NZ) from QF too.

By Xmas I'll be at around 700 DJ SCs v 850 QF SCs. Currently at 90 DJ SCs v 750 QF SCs. Will split my flying in 2012 to ensure I requalify as Platinum on both - nothing in WP1 to interest me.

I was happy with QF apart from the industrial action (pre-grounding), but am also happy with DJ for the short segment self-funded flying I do (weekly BNE-CBR + some trans-tasman flights). QF hard product + lounges still have the edge on DJ, but not enough difference to really bother me.

Very pleased with family pooling; if and when my work flying tails off, I'll focus on DJ exclusively, as I'll have a better chance of retaining Platinum. Also really like the priority boarding (after a false start or two) - why doesn't QF just copy it?

I am on 120 SCS so need 680 to requal. I am going to lock in QF WP first via two Saudi trips on CX and 10 or so Dom QF flexi saver flights. If a trip to India appears early next year I am likely to fly SQ. If HKG/PEK is locked in for May then I might switch Saudi in March to EY...

There are a lot of variables out there... If I am confident about WP in both programs then I will switch some DOM travel to DJ out of boredom with QF...

I can't retain both VA Status matched Plat and WP with my current flying patterns. For the next year I am going to divert my infrequent domestic and leisure travel (largely JQ) to VA.
I do approx 3 long haul J returns per year LHR x 2 and MIA/ORD/JFK x1.
I think I will probably give VS UC a go to LHR if an extra trip comes up next year ( looking likely). My strategy will be to try to get Gold with them and maintain WP.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I was matched Gold when the Status was first launched (in 2010 sometime) and made a point of requalifying so as not to feel that I ripped them off. I status matched to DJ Platinum a week or do after retaining Gold. I'm at a bit of a cross-roads as to what to do now. I probably can't maintain platinum with both QF and DJ so I'm inclined to favor QF this year as I believe their Platinum experience is a lot better than DJ's. I am hoping that I'll find a way to increase my flying volume in the new year, then double platinum may have a chance.

Matched WP in August. Expiry for DJ Sep 12. Managed DJ J class double SC to PER so sitting on 200 SCs after a month.

Fell 120 SCs short of QF WP1 so mo point in going for that again. Will retain QF WP then solely fly DJ to retain WP there too.

I notice as WP on QF seat selection that it has become more limiting (because of WP1?) So a definite 'de-hancement' in my opinion.

Was initially DJ Gold (status match v1) - did a few flights reluctantly when booked by my travel people - and in September was Status Matched to DJ Plat. Mrs Aus ATC was my QF PG and is also status matched now to DJ Gold.

Since mid - October, thanks to the Double Status Credit promotion, I am now on 420SC, with a BNE-MEL-BNE flexi return in the next couple of days which will see me with 540 SC this year, with 10 months to get the remaining 260 to retain DJ Plat.

And I must say - quite happily flying DJ - especially on the upgraded/new aircraft.

Next few flights will now be with QF to get the 200SC I need to retain WP by end Feb 2012 (hoping QF now offer a double status credit promo, though I had one earlier this year). No PG this year, but by a strange quirk of SC accruals (over the past 3 years she hasn't been reset to zero) Mrs AusATC retains QF SG in her own right:shock:

Just booked first DJ trip MEL-BRIS and used free op up on return leg.....nice touch.
Plan to requalify for QF WP on a DONE4 in March/April and than try a SQ/VS/VS round world in Sept to hopefully retain DJ WP (assuming SQ is linked by then)

My Gold expires in October. Currently I'm just a couple of flights from requalifying Gold.

If I tick over to the 400 SCs 1 June, , does that change my renewal date from 1 June 12 - 1 June 13. Or does it just extend my OCT 12 Expiry to OCT 13?

I cant seem to find a answer on other threads.

My Gold expires end of Nov and I ticked over the 400 SC's well before that. It did not change my renewal date but simply went towards Plat.

I will also reach 400SC's before end Nov this year and do not expect this date to change for next year

Majors already alluded to it, but your review date will remain the same (Gold until Oct.2013). If you attain platinum before Oct., your review date will then change to the date platinum is reached.

Any additional SCs earnt between June and Oct. will not go toward gold requal for the 12-13 year but they can of course still be handy in attaining platinum within the next 12 months or if that's unlikely, you may wish to consider family pooling them to an eligble family member.

Was gifted gold to lure me over from flying QF. Took a few flights and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Unfortunately work has a domestic policy of flying QF which I think I now have a way around :)

I have 4 legs a year on SQ - SYD-SIN-HKG-SIN-KUL-SIN-SYD in Y (Flexi) as well as 4 legs a year of SYD-CBR-MEL-PER-SYD in Y (Flexi) as well as a few ad-hoc SYD-MEL-SYD legs in there. I was gifted gold in August last year and retained gold in May 2012. I should easily be able to hit platinum quite easily by November and possibly family pool a few points/SC to Mrs Nitro and see how I get her moving along.

Thoroughly enjoying flying with Virgin, am keen to try the A330 in a few weeks on my Perth route. Might even burn a few points to see what J is like...

Plat match (end Aug), QF year (end July)
First six months was spent requaling WP and making LTG (sitting 50-100 SCs over on both)

Have then shifted over to DJ and now up to 450 SCs.
Will get a bit closer but may not get there.

Just got the following email from VA:

You are only three months away from your Review Date and the opportunity to enjoy Gold benefits for another 12 months.

To maintain Gold you need to earn 400 Status Credits and fly four Eligible Sectors* in your membership review period. Below is a summary of your activity to date.

Looks like our flights on Fri BNE/CBR have posted (including my wifes' which was family pooled to me), but not our return flights on Sunday.

One way to achieve the additional 70 Status Credits required to maintain your membership before your Review Date, is to take 2 return flights between Brisbane and Canberra on a Flexi Fare.

To earn more Status Credits and maintain your membership faster, you could always fly in a higher fare class or internationally through many of our
airline partners.

Or I could family pool ;)

So much better set out than the QF one and some good examples (based on our recent flight)

Now to get those final 50 as I logged onto my account to find the return flights have posted - pity none of them were double SC's :(
