Requirements to retain QFF Silver?

I have just looked at my QFF details and it says I need 80 additional status credits to keep silver? Also, that I have already flown 4/4 segments.
Has this requirement altered during the last year? I'm sure I only needed to fly the 4/4 segments previously?

Also, if I do 'now' require the 80 status credits ás well, any suggestions on how to get them? (Where I need to fly to etc).
Be grateful for any éxperts' insights, (thanking you in advance).

Instead of 300, you now need less then that each year plus 4 segments.

Each of the tiers has a number of status credits to achieve and also a number of SCs each subsequent year to retain, which is a lower number than the original 'achieve' This has been the requirement for as long as I can remember. On top of this there has been the 4 QF qualifying segments per year to retain. It sounds like you have done the required number of flights but have not earned the requisite SCs yet to retain your Silver.
To best offer advice on how to achieve the 80 SCs it would be helpful to know where you live, if you have any travel already booked and if you are able to fly in perhaps J or flexible Y which will give greater SC earn than discount Y.
There are some real experts here so I am sure they can help.

So that will mean that pottsy has 170 at present so will need to look at the earn rate at a few different 'itineraries' to make up the difference.

Is april within the membership year of earning the SC?

If yes, check both QF and JQ flights for cost and SC leavinf leaving Melb.

Then others could help with the partner earning info (the new table(s) I cant get my head around).

Reason I say both QF & JQ, is jq may be still cheaper if you added the "max bundle" for business class (maby $3k and $200+ more for the SC) instead of $5k or more with QFF.

As you already have the 4 QF segments, you don't need to fly QF to get status credits. If you do, a flight to the USA in discount economy will earn you 45pts each way. Then a couple of internal AA flights (depending distance / class etc) will get you the other 35pts.

Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to retain QF silver. There is not that many benefits worth the extra travel. YMMV.

If you want to earn QF SC for flying JQ, you had better not do any booking under the QF banner/website.
Go to the JQ website, put in a booking and then click Plus (Bundle).
Its an expensive option, if your membership year ends soon,
MEL to SYD in J one way earns 40, return will earn the requisite 80.
Have you been to AKL on the EK 380? You could do that for 80 one way in J, and return in discY. Make sure you book the EK metal (plane) under the QF website.
The more stops, the better, so if you have some time to play with, you could try flexY with QF, MEL to SYD to BNE, one day, next day, BNE to ADL, then ADL back to MEL.
QF website only allows bookings of max of 2 sectors a day.
If you don't want to to go to AKL, you could go on the 330 from MEL to PER in flexY, return, and then another trip, MEL to SYD back to MEL. Flex earns more.
PS is not a lot, but better than NB, ...
Also, for flights within Australia, this does not affect you so much, but you being an AFF member since 2003, would probably know, QF has downgraded SC earn rates a lot for short cheaper hops/QF flights.
QF has a slow to respond, but good Earn Points Calculator on its website.
Better than the VA one, which needs a few windows open.
For future reference though, you could splurge, MEL to AKL in F on EK, 120 x 2 (return) earns you 240, just 10 shy of retaining PS.

Additionally, if you were going to spend significant $ chasing silver, you might be better off saving the money and investing in paid lounge access.

Slightly off topic, clazgirl was gold and hasn't flown this year and has dropped to Silver, i would have though you would have gone lower, what status do you drop to?

Do QF send out new tags or do you keep the gold ones?

QF gives you a 'soft landing' down 1 level if you don't requalify each year.

The new silver membership pack will include silver luggage tags.

The elephant in this thread is that the OP thought that silver only required 4 Qantas segments. Suggesting they have got silver by flying only 4 segments in the past. Meaning a big SC earn per flight (60-80). So getting another 80 shouldn't be hard for them from a trip to North America. (No waste flights on JQ required) Provided the trip is in their current member year.

Bad news to the OP status credits have been a requirement for at least 10 years.

Qantas have a soft landing down one level. You get new welcome pack. I assume you mean bag tags, Qantas are not going to come and collect the gold tags. You keep the old and get new tags. The bag tags have no link to the members actual status.
