Yes I know that it is still just under a year away yet here we are already seeing price gouging...or is it market demands ...on flights and hotels. Looked at Melbourne first week of October and don't except much for 3 nights under 1,600 dollars. The usual IHG and Accor properties don't seem to be all listed yet as available. Same goes with Brisbane.

Yep, just had a look at QF flights BNE-ADL in the first weekend of October 2027 and it's $500+ one way. Cheapest flight is actually business class at 6am on the Saturday morning - $10 cheaper than economy.

Yeah I'm looking at flights from PER-MEL and PER-BNE. Wondering if it's cheaper going via Bali!

AFL grand final is 2nd October which is why fights are expensive. Dockers fans are getting in earlier for another season of wharfie time disappointment. Seriously, I know folks who have booked flights for the GF.

Yikes...AFL final and France and Scotland at the rugby over that weekend. That's quite drastic for the city to cope with... sounds like rubbish planning.

AFL season got pushed out due to the 150th anniversary test at the MCG in March.

That finishes a few days before the start of the AFL season (and probably on day three anyway) so there must be logistics issues in turning the venue around. Surprised they just didn't schedule AFL games elsewhere. Not great to have nothing at the G on opening round but worse I reckon to have the last Saturday in September in early October. May as well make it a night granny too.

Some of the RWC games are very enticing. But the ticket prices are insane.

Not a problem, the G had the NFL game in the middle of the finals this year.
They were just lucky that the teams playing in the Semi Finals week allowed for the week without an MCG home game for their tenant teams.

Sept 4 - Geelong vs Carlton
Sept 11 - NFL Rams vs 49ers
Sept 19 - Hawthorn vs Brisbane

They also replaced the turf used for the NFL game before the Sept 19 match.
