Requested for ID - Entering Domestic Business Lounge

That's a walk in the park!

I did a 3 month contract last year that wanted 100 points of ID, 10 years worth of employment, travel, and living history, full financial check. They even wanted details of my shareholdings and did a check on a company that I'm a director of.

.

Sounds a bit like an NV1

OT but on hotels and ID

I've noted there seems a policy with some chains for elite members of hotel programs (IHG in particular) they waive the ID check. I always have it and offer it anyway but often have been waved off ("As a Platinum member you're all good"). I suppose it also helps if one has stayed at a particular property prior.

I never take that lack of check as a given though and always have it.

As for QF and lounges - remember that ID required for domestic FLIGHT does not have to be the same as that required for lounge access - though I've never actually seen it specifically noted as being different of course.

I've also (sadly) got enough grey hair now to not be asked for ID at any lounge, pub, bar etc ever. I think I'd actually be a bit flattered if I was!! :D

Was never asked for ID on entry to a QP but as others have noted above, my BP or Qantas card is scanned instead (more often than not).

I'm starting to find a lot of places now asking for photo ID and I have a problem as never had a drivers licence. Even just asking to run a tab in a bar in NSW is getting to be a pain and I'm not going to start carrying my passport around or learn how to drive (too old for that now!)

I walked to the right (J) side of the lounge entrance and presented my boarding pass to the agent there? Is there another way to do it in BNE? Celebrity - probably not, they could tell by the name on the boarding pass anyway. Security - maybe, but if it's just based on my description, an ID wouldn't prove that they weren't looking for me. Looking jet-lagged is possible given the transit from the international red-eye.

I haven't looked young enough to be requested for ID the other 80+ times I've walked into airline lounges in the last year or so. Or even when requesting alcohol at the bar.

Seems like this was a once-off occurrence, given no one else as experienced it. I'll put it down to looking not so great after my international long haul I suppose.

While you didn't actually answer the question, being licensed premises, it is always possible the licensing people were in the club that day chexking on things.

What question didn't I answer? If it wasn't clear, I approached the right side of the desk. My boarding pass was not scanned.

Anyways I've now used two more QF dom lounges without similar incident - I think it's safe to say it was a one off occurrence.

Never been asked for ID into a lounge, and have to admit I am surprised how rarely I'm asked for photo ID when checking in for domestic flights.

Can't remember the last time I was asked for photo ID for a hotel in Australia. Happens regularly overseas except in some hotels I frequent regularly.
