Can anyone enlighten me? My husband was just rejected for the AMEX platinum card with 100K velocity sign up bonus but I don't know why.

Here's the details:
He earns $118,000
Debt - mortgage $440,000
Credit card - $6,000

We have two dependants. We have no other debts. His credit rating is 838! We have never defaulted on any payments for anything.

Any ideas? I really need those bonus sign up points.

Has he been signing up for a lot of credit cards in recent history? That can be a negative mark against you when applying for credit cards.

I suspect it's going to be more administrative than financial - more than likely some info on the application didn't match up. Was info like recent addresses and time at those addresses as well as ID documents (drivers license, medicare card) correct?
