Refused guest child access to TBIT OW lounge when flying QF

My SG colleague just returned from a family vacation to Disneyland and on the way home was looking forward to spending some time in the TBIT OW J lounge with his wife and two children.

The lounge dragon refused entry for his children stating that the OW policy does not include children as guests. He even showed them the policy at Lounge Locations | North America | Los Angeles International Airport Tom Bradley Terminal | International Business and was still refused.

Guest access

- When travelling on a Qantas or Jetstar flight number, one guest and up to two children (aged 4-17 years) are allowed who must be travelling with with the member on the same flight.

A kind fellow traveller overheard their situation and offered to use his access to guest them in, but since they were flying on different flights was also refused.

Any suggestions on options he could follow in future such as a OW policy document to refer to?

This happened to us in 2008 with the excuse that the lounge was full - however Mrs C and I would be allowed access if the kids stayed outside (I went in for a look and the lounge was only about 3/4 full).. On subsequent trips through LAX all of us were allowed in, even when the lounge was then SRO.
I think it often depends on the mood of the door dragon.

While it’s a bit late now, I really think QF need to step up here. If you have T’s and C’s in your possession and are still refusées entry , surely that is a breach of contract?

Not good enough. I'd be asking for an explanation, apology and compensation.

If that happened to me, I’d accept and thank him/her for opening a child care centre in the foyer of the lounge.

I hope he/she knows how to change a nappy.

Whenever it’s happended to me (at non QF lounges) I politely ask another traveller who is by themselves to guest one of my kids in. Hasn’t failed yet, and I am happy to do likewise.
