Red Energy referral 15,000 QF points [now 7,000 or $100]

HEADS UP!!

I checked my Red Enegy account last night after posting on here. There was an option to "Switch to a Cheaper Plan" and this cheaper plan was basically the same rates I was on before the July'25 price increase notice. The only difference was the Soalr FiT had dropped from 7c to 4c/kwh, all other rates remained the same. I made the change and overnight have received the confirmation email.

So essentially I'm staying on the same rates but with less Solar FiT - perhaps they've realised the backlash? Hopefully not a stuff up on their part.

The rates that I moved to were cheaper than Red's before the price rise and my solar FIT is 4.4c/kWh (I think).

This could be O/T, but I also called up a few days ago asking for a better rate, and they offered all my FY25 rates, with a 0.9c/kWh increase on Peak/OP/Shoulder.

Makes me wonder what the whole point of the default offer is.

Unfortunately we're new to the address so am stuck with the current tariff - RedEnergy seems to be the best for my area (Ausgrid, Sydney)

I had a lovely surprise from a referral from Dylan today. I don't think we have communicated Dylan, so thank you. My referral code for Red was 7107625.

I note the comments about cheaper alternatives but I really can't fault Red. We have solar and also a pensioner discount and between the two we still are mostly in credit for an entire year. But what blows my mind is that, despite being in credit, we still receive the full complement of points based on the entire bill, pre-cocessions.

To be specific, in the last 4 quarters, our credit has amounted to -$421.92. Our accumulated points in the corresponding period have been 3,409. Plus of course, paying with Amex which doubles that.

I realise not everyone will have the same concession or solar, or both and if you have big energy bills it absolutely makes sense to not use RED because the equation won't be so generous. But, if it works, these are valuable points!

Where are you located and what is your FIT?

Those grandfathered FITs are tied to the inverter so you want that to last as long as possible. New panels to invalidate it though.
