Sorry, didn't mean to spoil it. I won't say who wins! It's coming up.

But it certainly seems like they don't actually want any heat in the product :( but I look forward to seeing what is acceptable tomorrow.

You didn't spoil it. I knew people would be ahead of me when I poked around in here. :). The only time I get antsy is when people spoil survivor, just because they Google it and think they're super clever.

I might try the sauce.

I might try the sauce.

I'll pick some up tomorrow, have a "happy hour" at another neighbours tomorrow evening and if it's not too spicy I'm sure it'll go down well, though the jam could have been a quince replacement! Oh well!

Here's hoping a bottle of sauce is under $5.99 though :p

If its that price it won't sell. Because we tend to use a lot of sauce when we do. We always put a spicy sauce on pizzas. Hotter the better. :)

I enjoyed the CCC if it was a tad spicy, could not help but think in the air it would make a nice little snack/meal.

Interesting. Thought the idea was OK, but no flavour in the CCC whatsoever. Couldn't detect any spice and added my own chilli... Then again I do like it hot

How about $4.99... it's going to be a tough sell!

Lucky I'm getting 50 points/bottle and it keeps for a year.

I'm a fan of chilli's too, so I would suggest avoiding the "hot" sauce this week.

I've tried just a little bit on a cracker after lunch, and the flavour is interesting to say the least, you can definitely taste the smokiness, I'm just not sure it's very good, at least with crackers of course. I'll be taking it to a dinner party later and shall try it with whatever's on the BBQ too. As for the spice, there's a small bite at the end, but it's so small that it really disappoints. I now understand why the jam was out at the first hurdle, it contained real spice. Should bring this program to India :)

As for how easy it was to buy today, it actually wasn't. I must have walked past the small stand twice, as it wasn't clearly displayed, and browsed every condiment available, figuring the best place for a condiment would be in the condiment aisle. Instead, it was behind the island (where you buy smokes) at the front of the shop. I never look there, that's usually where they make store announcements, not where a product is displayed. Take note Woolworths! :p

Hmm. That's just a little more than Maggie Beers price but not sure about a size comparison.

I had a dull moment today. I remembered thinking I should check the price of it. Only problem is that I was in Coles...

It's a 250mL bottle.

Went to pick some up at Brisbane city, sold out.

I haven't been back to Woolworths since I picked up 100 points (two bottles) earlier in the week.

I presented it to a table of 7 for a BBQ the same night, but forgot to report back on the experience as it was so underwhelming. Steak and sausages were the meats, and I honestly couldn't tell I'd even smeared some on the meat unless I absolutely coated it, and then the taste wasn't a great match. I'm not sure why everyone loved it on the show and I didn't but would have to think it was a different batch and changes had been made that probably took it away from anything that tasted spicy.

Look forward to next week only because this week let me down.

I still haven't been to a woolies. I checked about Maggie Beers sauces similar to this and they are $4.95 for 260 mls. They never disappoint.

Once I tasted the sauce, I too was surprised that the judges loved it so much. Tasted rather insipid and too watery for me. Think it's going in the bin. Did like the chilli though. Had different herbs from those I would use and it was good both with noodles and a baked potato (separate occasions) as well as with the nachos it came with. Yes I bought 3. Thank goodness I didn't buy 3 of the chilli sauce.

I'm not a massive fan of the sauce, but I'm happy to see more products actually smoking things rather than using liquid smoke.

That said, I rarely use these kinds of sauces as-is, mostly I mix them with some other things for a marinade. If I want barbecue or chilli sauce, I make my own :) They're not that hard after a few (delicious) experiments, and you can make them to your own liking

Last time I checked (when I was working in the food industry - around 2006), liquid smoke was illegal in this country. Big in the US, but very dangerous/cancer causing... just an fyi.

Ah, I didn't know that. I'll have to check next time I look at something. If it's not that, I wonder what they do to make it taste weird. Actually, I probably don't want to know.

Not surprising... times do change.. I wouldn't go near the stuff myself though - pretty bad for you.

Yep. The winner was the Indian Samosa. The other choice was a special stir fry choice, and I dont even remember the other one. Never got around to trying the sauce from last week though.
