Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

Well, I did the I-?D transfer this morning and it was not too bad: dropped my bag off at the T1 transfer and was directed to get the Skybus from outside this area, which dropped us off at departures level at t3. Took about 25 mins from getting landside at T1 to airside at T3.

Yes I had the same experience this morning. Although the J security queue at T3 wasn’t in use and there was a long queue. So it definitely takes more time.

Edit: sign at the T3 end

Connecting from Brisbane to QF1 next week with MrsFletty and FlettyJnr, I think we might just take the train, and gain some more Flounge time as a result.

We ended up just using the Skybus at T3 departures, there was no line and bus arrived shortly after, pretty quick, better than the train IMO but only because no waiting at 11am.

Will be sad and bad if this is the new system, ie, from now and not going back to the old way, T3 dom to T1 int at SYD.

This morning bus from Gate 15 back operational (both directions), with skybus labelled busses and staff

Seemed good at ~815am peak period with no line

Escalator not working downwards at domestic and upwards at international

Unsure when it restarted
This was in the domestic terminal on Monday

Do you know how frequently the bus runs? Also, how long was the trip between terminals?
The trip took about 15 minutes - along the exterior route. Unsure how frequent the bus is: the bus was waiting when I arrived and we waited about 5 minutes for any more passengers before we set off.

Have they pushed all the traffic further out into the suburbs.
Used to be that both the QF internal bus and the road aka Airport Dr, used to be close to fence.
Being an av geek and plane spotter, or back seat wanna be pilot, (not IRL a pilot tho), that road used to be very good for sitting on the internal and external road bus to see plane landing.
Google maps show as Qantas Dr, having been moved further out.

I timed our run a few weeks ago. Bus took about 10mins (minimal red lights though).

I believe on average it should be both more frequent (because you can also go downstairs and take regular transfer) and faster (higher speed limit, better priority when driving and similar route) than the old internal bus.

The public roads have all been completely reworked in the area about i want to say 12months ago? Bunch of different flyby roads and the new M8 connector. But it does result in the road turning out a bit away from the old perimeter fence.

So probably no quicker taking the train between terminals given it's quite a lengthy walk to the domestic train station. Was just weighing up options, but hopefully come Jan the regular airside bus will be back operating.
