Ready for Take-Off (TV show)

I saw this being filmed in the Melbourne J lounge.

Enjoyed the scenario being acted out where it seems a WP or J passenger (it was in the business lounge) was being told their fare category was not eligible for fly forward.
Excuse the pleb silver question, but what is 'fly forward'?

That wasn’t acting. It was a real passenger, interacting with real Qantas staff, and in real time.

Expect to see more of the same…trust me, this show isn’t going to be all warm and fuzzy!

Can we expect some epic DYKWIA-ing? Probably more entertaining than some of the cooking/dancing/singing/dating/weight-loss stuff on TV at the moment...

I'm also looking forward to the yet to be commissioned program QF Q&A. It'll have jb747 doing his best Tony Jones as host and answering video questions about RNAV and ILS (probably from AFFrs).

, I'm happy to negotiate a very reasonable commission as Exec Producer. Lifetime CL should cover it.;)

I'm so disappointed I'm working Friday night and don't have any way to record the program! I wonder if we'll be able to watch it online after it has aired.

Very much looking forward to watching it!

It will be on the channel nine streaming service.

To the best of my knowlege, Fly Ahead is a scheme VA offer to SG & WP where they can take an earlier flight if they are travelling HLO and if the same fare bucket is available.

Flow forward is QF terminology where pax can be moved to earlier flights even on restricted fares during irregular ops eg weather disruption, ATC related, flight cancellation etc.

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

I'll probably have a gander, but if true Qantas hold the production rights - the show loses significant integrity.

The cynic in me says they show enough "errors/issues" to make it seem realistic and the viewer thinking "well **** does happen at times"

A warts and all doco, not edited by Qantas, with nothing off limits would hold far more interesting

Yep no doubt. And they'll intentionally pick instances where the airline is in the right.

These shows have been done to death over the years. I guess we're just recycling.

This actually benefits Qantas because it puts it out into the public domain that passengers can't simply turn up and expect to fly on an earlier flight.

There is a question as to whether Qantas has actually paid, either wholly or in part, to produce this series? Not sure if that has been addressed anywhere?

But things like passengers turning up with excess baggage (and being charged), passengers being denied 'fly forwards', or passengers being correctly denied access to lounges are all in QF's interest to get out there in public.

What I can almost guarantee we will not see is where Qantas is in error. Where they incorrectly deny lounge access for example. Or where they bump passengers from overbooked flights, but fail to explain how refunds will be calculated. Or passengers being confused about simpler and fairer.

Hope everyone is watching our pilot episode (pun very much intended!). :)
The tug driver just said that he was pushing a 737 out, and was then seen to push an A330 out. Come on guys you can't trick up plane spotters... haha. ;)
