We're thinking of flying with Air China early next year, Sydney to Kathmandu, which would involve transiting thru Chengdu. I vaguely recall reading somewhere that this can be a real hassle, having to collect luggage, go thru customs and immigration, then check luggage back in and go back thru security.
Knowing what security lines can be like at Chinese airports this does worry me somewhat.
