I recently ticked over to Platinum for the first time - one of the stated benefits is 100% more points on 'eligible' QF flights. However I appear to be earning at the same rate as when I was Gold, eg I flew a Flexible Economy fare MEL-SYD in May and earned 1,200 points - I just flew the exact same fare last week (after qualifying for Platinum) and earned...... 1,200 points. Am I missing something or do I need to (sigh) contact Qantas to check?

My understanding is that on short haul routes like that, it is below the minimum milage threshold and so is rounded up to the lowest points amount. Since this "rounding" occurred no additional QFF bonus points could be earned regardless of status.

Also recall the bonus points do not include the class of travel bonus for classes above Flexible Economy. For instance, for SYD-LAX one way

So you need to at a minimum fly the more expensive economy fares on short domestic flights or fly on longer domestic routes or international to get more points than Bronze. So for most people it's mainly going to benefit them when they fly international.

Still Platinum has some nice domestic perks like Arrivals access to the Domestic Business Lounge (or Domestic QANTAS Club if you prefer or are visiting an airport with no Domestic Business Lounge).

“Still Platinum has some nice domestic perks like Arrivals access to the Domestic Business Lounge (or Domestic QANTAS Club if you prefer or are visiting an airport with no Domestic Business Lounge).”

Is arrival access actually specified anywhere on the Q website, or is it just a “known” benefit?

I frequently fly PER-MEL and PER-SYD. Definitely double FF points. You can use the Points Calculator to see what you will earn with each level. On arrival access to lounges is an excellent benefit, although if you have luggage, it has to be brief! Comfort break usually. If I only have a carry one, then breakfast or a toasted sandwich and glass of wine before boarding the SkyBus is welcome.

I found the footnote interesting

ΩΩ Lounge access eligibility is based on a customer's class of travel, Qantas Club membership, Qantas Frequent Flyer or oneworld membership tier, or partner airline benefit.
Arrivals: Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer members may access Qantas Domestic Business or Qantas Club lounges upon arrival, if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar (JQ, 3K or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU) or a oneworld member airline marketed and operated flight number on your ticket

be aware though....
Lounge operating hours are one hour before each Qantas operated service until last Qantas departure.

so the Arrival access in some destinations is not viable where the last QF flight departs before the last arrivals of the evening....
of course departure delays keep lounges open...
