Sorry, wasn't sure who to ask this question so I have posted it here.

I tried to upload an avatar into my profile. I made sure that the file was within the file size limits specified, but I just cannot get it to work.

The forum software returns a hole bunch of errors that look like this:
Warning: copy(./images/avatars/134239877843741987ae0b9.jpg): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/freqfly/public_html/discus/includes/usercp_avatar.php on line 239

It looks like a permissions problem. Are we not allowed to upload avatars?

Send a PM to admin.

There has been a similar script problem with uploading photos into the forum photo gallery for quite some time now. So might be related.

Thanks NM. I've just sent it off.

I'm not sure if there is a gallery. I was just trying to upload an avatar. Admin has fixed the problem now. Thanks!

Photo Gallery can be found from the main AFF page and click on the drop-down box that says "Go to ..." and select Photo Gallery. You will end up here at the Photo Gallery home page.

But the photo upload is still not working. I was wanting to upload some of my shots from the Paris Airshow, especially A380 flying display, but can't.

Fascinating what you find out about. I never knew there was a photo gallery either. Looks to be a seaparate product to the bulletin board software though.

Just to keep up in the spirit of keeping posts on topic.

If NM's ff card uploaded is platinum then what colour is Yada Yada's? :? Is it gold or bronze? My sight is not that good and I only have silver ff card to compare?

Gold :)

Here is the Silver Image:

And the Gold:

And the Platinum:

Don't know of any "bronze" pictures, but believe the card is a red colour. Others I'm sure will correct me :)

Damn Mal got in quicker, with a more complete reply. And from what I remember Bronze is much more reddish in colour

Thanks Mal.

I know what silver looks like. Hopefully I may get used to platinum and/or gold soon. :D

I was Bronze for almost 10 years as I did not have to fly very often. Then last year a management change meant that our company in Australia was moved from being under one of the US-based VPs to being under the Director of Asian operations in Singapore. I was asked to make a familiarisation trip through Asia late last year. A RTW ticket became a viable option so I took the opportunity of visiting our operations in the UK and Canada, and came back through LAX.

So within the space of two weeks, I went from Bronze (with a paid QP membership) to Gold. My FF anniversary (Nov) was in the middle of my trip so a few weeks after getting home, a Silver card arrived in the mail. There was a delay getting some of my flights credited but as soon as that was sorted out a Gold card was then sent to me. I'd requalified for Gold by April 2005, so for all domestic flights since then have been flying DJ as it is more convenient and friendlier.

So for me, getting to Gold was quick and easy. But as you know the main difference between Bronze/Silver and Gold is in QP access. As a paid QP member with a Bronze card, I have not noticed any difference whatsover to being a Gold FF. I realise that you earn SC's faster on Silver and Gold but as far as tangible benefits are concerned, the QP is the only thing going for Gold status. I still have three upgrade credits available from my RTW trip and have not been able to use them. I honestly believe that the FF program is a state of mind more than anything else. :(

Actually, we all earn SCs at the same rate depending on the fare type purchased. Silver, Gold and Platinum members are a status bonus on FF points of 25%, 50% and 100% respectively over miles flown.

NM ~ oops - thanks for the correction.

One other immediatly tangible benefit is elite FF members get better access to economy award seats. SG & WP can redeem economy class awards on flights where T and/or X class fares are available. PS & NB members can only redeem from the X fare bucket.

My goodness, looking at the thread title, aren't we getting rather OT?

And here I was thinking that OT was the norm for this discussion board. :?

Someone that knows about private messages, or has used them regularly, may be able to answer this question.

There is an inbox, sentbox, outbox and savebox.

Inbox and save box are pretty self explanatory. I am a little confused about sentbox and outbox and the timing of the messages in there. :? I think a message you send or reply to goes to the outbox. When the intended user has opened, read, acknowledged, the message this then moves to my sentbox? I replied to a message in July and it is still sitting in my outbox which means that it has either been ignored or the user has not signed in since then. So in theory any messages I still have in my outbox mean that they have not been read?

Any help would be appreciated.

The documentation for this BBS software says this about the outbox:

4.3.3: The Outbox
When you send a PM, the message goes to your Outbox. It remains in the Outbox until the recipient visits his/her Inbox, at which point it is moved from your Outbox to their Inbox. While the message remains in your Outbox you may edit or delete your post if you like. The message remains in your control until it is received.

So, the user may have logged in, but they have not been to their Inbox.
