In a word - yes. The QF check-in at the airport opens about three years prior to the flight. <snip>
That's amazing, you can't even book a flight that far ahead.

Hoping someone can shed some light on my query.........
Will be transiting HKG on a J Oneworld RTW. CX into HKG and then QAN back to BNE with an 11 hr stopover. We were intending to use the CX arrivals lounge and the QAN J Lounge to fill in the time but from the previous discussion it seems we probably won't be able to get our QAN BPs until 3 hrs before (unless we use the airport express checkin - which is increasing in likelihood). Can anyone confirm if we will need to collect our baggage from CX and then check it in with QAN or not. I'd expect the bags would be transferred for us but, with an 11 hr gap, I'm not so sure. Given that we are connecting to a QF flight on a single PNR, when can we get our BPs to get access to the QAN lounge in this scenario? Difference to the previous discussion being that we're transiting rather than starting our trip in HKG.
Firstly I think you should be able to have your luggage checked thorugh and you should be able to receive your onward boarding passes at the same time. Will be transiting HKG on a J Oneworld RTW. You guys need to spend more time in the PER QP. As much as I don't mind it I really notice the positive difference in the food when I get to enter a J Lounge.
PER QP would be full of CUBS (Cashed Up Bogans) wouldn't it??
I much prefer the SYD J lounge, I think because it's larger, but both the MEL and SYD J lounges are great!
Is the SYD Dom J lounge always crowded? As crowded as the QP at SYD?
Also should I go for the 767 or 737 for SYD-MEL-SYD? both Y and J classes.
SYD is probably the better business lounge of the 2.I am looking to trying out both Qantas Club and Qantas J Lounge. Sectors will be SYD-MEL-SYD
Which would be the better J lounge to try out?
Not much diff between the two - I'd go J lounge in the afternoon when the bar is open.Thanks. I will be going 9am and probably 2PM or 3 PM on the return flight. So looks like out of the peak hours.
