QLD border declaration

Have found many hotels are offering some great deals when booking direct - much better than the general discount travel booking websites and almost all are flexible Pay on Arrival. Win win for both parties really in the current climate.
I've tried that too but maybe I will recheck. Must be pay on arrival in current situations. I've found booking.com to be about the same as booking direct as I usually do a comparison and understand they will get a cut but he hotels have to do their bit as well. I'll update later.

Then I'm confused as to why you asked the question?
Oh dear really? I know a border declaration is required - the question I have asked is how does one complete one. There has been no guidance given by QLD government, airlines, DOH etc.

I've done some digging and agree the site is really confusing. Your post did sound like you knew what you had to do but I now understand the issue.

As for Queensland locking out all Victorians. Well, I guess it’s their state. But I think I’ll remember the way this was done, and especially the language used by some of the politicians, next time I‘m deciding where to spend my tourist dollars. NSW has some nice spots....

I think many feel this way and I agree our politicians here have used abysmal language in their posturing for local votes.

Honestly they do not represent how Queenslanders feel about our fellow Australians. It’s divisive and unnecessary.

as a Victorian, the blanket declaration is a major disappointment for all non-infected travellers with plane ticket and accommodation booked for mid August 2020. would be more than happy to be tested along with rest (4) of family. Hate to think the damage this mandatory closure of the Q border is doing. Pity that their election is due later this year; might that have put the fear into their gov?
I realise this probably isn't the thread for this, but perhaps if your government hadn't hired private contractors to guard the hotels, without a tender, let them then subcontract out the work and the ensuing mess that caused, VIC wouldn't be seeing this surge now. Like everyone else in the country I have done my bit over the lockdown period and if it wasn't for JobKeeper might have lost my income/job completely, yet it seems like one state couldn't follow the same rules, while others were overly cautious (and vilified for it). Now I'm finally able to go out again, I'd hate for a whole bunch of Victorians to come to my state, my city – and send us all backwards.

The damage that opening the border to all earlier may have caused could have been far worse... suburbs forced back into lockdown and police on the streets... oh wait, that's already happening in the one spot they didn't take it seriously.

I personally don’t think any thread should use the type of broad stroke generalisations and positioning, language that you are using.

Sure - if this is determined to be the cause through the investigation (likely I’m sure) but how is this the posters fault?

Like everyone else in the country I have done my bit over the lockdown period and if it wasn't for JobKeeper might have lost my income/job completely,

Like a majority of Victorians as well who did their bit.

yet it seems like one state couldn't follow the same rules,

I wasn’t aware the whole state couldn’t follow the rules....Oh wait they did. There was (probably) a poor decision made by a small group of people that sparked this.

Our state.

And thankfully not all of us in Queensland are using such divisive, inflammatory launguage. Please consider your generalisations during this crisis it doesn’t help. I understand people are stressed and frightened but we are all in this together.

The damage that opening the border to all earlier may have caused could have been far worse... suburbs forced back into lockdown and police on the streets... oh wait, that's already happening in the one spot they didn't take it seriously.

I doubt the poster was the one who made the decisions that led to the outbreak.
And a vast majority of Victorians have, like the rest of Australia followed the advice. A few haven’t, just like all around the country.

Totally get the sentiment but what a Govt does or doesn't do is out of the control of the people.

yet it seems like one state couldn't follow the same rules,

Perhaps do some fact checking. As repeated by the chief medical officer and a couple of state medical officers, Victoria followed the national guidelines to letter. Some states put in extra provisions of their own. Some staff and members of the population went rogue. They are not breakdowns in the gov decision making process "following the rules".

Suggest you climb back out of your tree.

A few weeks ago Vic was being vilified for being over cautious and not loosening restrictions when other states had.

But maybe that was much too harsh and eventually people rebelled. It just seems that some very basic issues of personal protection, and even dare I say, common sense, just weren't applied. Of course no one expected the sex part. That drags them to a whole new level.

And I've banged on about it repeatedly here and I know others have disagreed, but I never understood why people in quarantine were never tested in NSW and Victoria.

I do accept though that Melbourne has a much denser population than Adelaide. Which means, I don't understand why there is no community spread in NSW. Maybe there is and people just aren't getting sick. Which may actually be a good thing.

As I have said above and the Chief media medical officer (who we are constantly told is the guru) said it wasn't necessary. It was not in the Feds guidelines

I'd hate for a whole bunch of Victorians to come to my state, my city – and send us all backwards.

If that's how you feel about, what, 500 active cases out of a population of around 5 million with high levels of testing, then good luck letting the rest of the world in.

Well, that point is now very debatable isn't it. Is this the Vic CMO? Because well, mmm.

All that statement says is that if you tested positive once, then there is no need to test again before release after an appropriate period of time. It does not state that there is no requirement to test once!

But Victoria didn't test everyone once! So who knows how many were positive but not tested. Obviously several because the security guards spread it.

The problem is who is overseeing the quarantine.Surely there should be Dept.of Health involvement.
I know there was a lot of criticism from doctors involved in quarantine hotels in NSW and WA early on in late March.WA got themselves into line reasonably quickly. In NSW it took the Ruby Princess debacle to get their authorities moving.SA seemed to be up to speed from the start as was the NT.Really haven't heard much of the QLD experience but seem to be no complaints.

Victoria really has to explain why they used private contractors for security at the quarantine hotels where other states used police +/- the ADF who I am sure would make people a little less likely to brazenly flout the rules. They also must explain who was supervising the running of the quarantine hotels from the public health angle.I believe some heads have already been rolled in the Covid 19 task force.

Apparently there was a request for the ADF to be used late last month but it was rescinded the next day.Prison officers are now taking some part in the security operations.

No, I took that from what you posted which is this (my bold). And what is with the 'yet again' thing.

Please provide a reference showing any of those involved did not have the first test.
