Whoops I think i contributed to the derailing of a valuable thread.

P.S I only accept friend requests accompanied by a (minimum) five paragraph missive about how company x wronged you in 2002 and are devil spawn.

In return you get my George R R Martin length treaty on why I boycott my local fish and chip shop - (spoiler alert it concerns the size of the potato cakes)

In addition most card providers in Hong Kong charge to transfer points to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles.

Same with most cards in Singapore. Since OP was a member of SQ's FF program, presumably he knows about this as well :-S

In light of all of the above, may I suggest thread be renamed "AFF post is Making a fool of me. "

All those in favour?

After 4 years as a QFF member I decided not to fly Qantas anymore unless its a must.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when I found out they charge an annual fee to transfer points from CBA CC to their program. That is right down ridiculous!

I've been living abroad for a long time and returned to Australia few years ago. Since I travel few times a year, I thought why not join a FF program? And whats better than Qantas? It seemed like a big company with International fleet more than any other in Australia. Big Mistake!

First, to join you have to shell out 80 or 90 Bucks (not sure of the amount).

Then comes the service, Qantas service on the air is way below what other international airlines offer. I traveled on Malaysian, Singapore and Emirates and all were friendlier and more courteous than Qantas. Even their coach class crew is better than Qantas business.

For some reason, Qantas rips people off and gets away with it here in Australia.

1) You can join QFF for free via everyday rewards. Given the ease of doing so, and then being able to earn points when you shop for groceries, your point is moot.
2) Qantas is not well below. I do not see the hype about Emirates, which have slanting flat beds inferior to the Skybed on most of their aircraft, some flights still have cradle seats into Europe! And the passenger:bathroom ratio, which many whinge about on QF, is much inferior across all EK aircraft. Food and Wine is generally superior on QF too. Each to their own.
3) In general, it is the Australian market getting ripped off, and not just Qantas ripping off the Australian market.

Friends are no indicator IME. Just look at me.

As for derailing the thread, I think it was derailed in post #1.

There is a reason for that

"If you can't annoy somebody there's little point in writing"

:p

aaaahhhh,

I fell all loved now. thanks for Friend requests guys, I feel all warm and fuzy inside now.

I was going to suggest hiding in the corner of the forum with burrco and talking about you all but I wont now.

At the risk of getting back OT, can we get back to b*tching about QF again.

As this thread appears to have gone waaaay off topic and there is little reasonable debate, perhaps it is best to close the thread. Should anyone have something to add, PM any of the Mods and we can re-open.
