Anyone else receive the email from "The Leading Edge"?

Quite a comprehensive survey - certainly made my feelings about bullshit on-line checkin clear.

Haven't seen it but a link to it or a good 'paraphrase' of the more suculent points would be good.

Regards
Daniel

Seemed to mostly be concerned about Ozjet, offered 18 different situations of flights from Melbourne (my home base) to Perth comparing different options for QANTAS, Jet*, OzJet & Virgin.

One of the options for QANTAS econ was picking up the meal on boarding. Included combinations like:
Pick up meal,
Free meal & drinks,
AVOD
Pay TV screens
3 choices of meal (bus only)
Extra leg room (Bus option always 40')

They also seemed to be interested in fly 10 times get one flight free. I'm sure others will have more info later.

They were also suggesting in the options of providing lounge access to business passengers

On the negative, they had lots of questiosn relating to 3 items of FF program / travel where a most critical and a least citical had to be chosen

Seems a great way to then be able to say " we got rid of international upgrades since people didnt think it was important" for example

I left feedback about that very issue. Some of the 3 options I didn't want at all, others I wanted them all. I see a setup here.

Wahoo I'm now a freak.... hmm, is that a good thing

Well, now that I've checked my emails, I have found that I've received the email as well. Hmmm, with the benefit of all those ahead of me who have posted, I'll make sure I answer the survey.

Welcome to Freak status, Dave. Didn't think it would take you long...

After completing the survey, I agree with the comments above from all. I had some particular variances as well:

A lot of my travel isn't point to point returns, it's multi sector trips. From the 12 domestic "returns" I did in the past year, only 6 were true return "point to single point" flights. In the other 6 tickets, there were 21 sectors. Oh, QF, most of those were fully-flexible fares.

In the grouping of "where did you fly to", did anybody else notice they didn't mention CBR, but they had Darwin and Hobart (except they spelt it Horbart).

Some of my trips incorporate business travel with weekends away before or at end, so that didn't fit into their segregated leisure and business options.

They are certainly worried about the impact OzJet could have to their regular fully-flexible and Business Class travellers. Too many screens of options (where they were simply changing the cost structures). But stangely, Ozjet figures prominently in my choices . Sorry, QF, but if they have better, or similar to, your flexible prices and cheaper than your J class prices, I'll happily go with them on a 5.5 hour flight (BNE/PER). The only reason I’d fly QF is if I was able to access an upgrade (and burn the points that I already have with QF). So, yes, I'm very likely to choose OzJet.

Oh, BTW Qantas, I won't fly with your LCC Jetstar....ever, if I can help it. You've successfully launched it, in my mind, as a LCC with an ad campaign so far that makes me cringe  .

When they then go back to your flights and who you flew with and which class (for QF), I assume they meant the paid class or travel, prior to ODU’s or U seat availability.

I was happy to supply my QFF number, they can happily go back and check the validity of my answers.

Qantas obviously don't value my feedback  . Then again, my domestic travel in the last year has been one BNE-MEL return on K fare, a BNE-MEL-SYD tagged onto the end of a business class BNE-SIN/KUL-HKG-BNE ticket (all paid J), and the SYD-BNE to get me back home in K. The rest has all been international itineraries, some with connecting domestic legs and all such domestic connections in D or Z.

And by the way Lindsay, OzJet won't be operating any 5.5 hour sectors with their 737-200 fleet! They won't have the endurance for that. So no BNE-PER non-stops on Ozjet until they bring some different aircraft into their fleet mix.

Got the EMail on Friday, I have been to busy to attend.

I did it this morning.

As part of it I was presented with a list of 18 options for flying MEL-SYD. For me this was an absolute waste of time as far as JQ is involved for the purposes of the survey. The reason for this is that MEL-SYD is a silly option as I would need to leave home at least 3 hours prior to a JQ flight ex AVV, rather than 1½ for Tullamarine. I am sure there are other residents of Melbourne suburbia who are in the same situation.

Actually, if you have a close look at these 10 questions each a group of three , you will see there are actually 15 differing 'characteristics' used. I have listed them below. Each characteristic is included twice in the first 10 groups of three. Your answers for the first 10 groups are placed into a 'matrix' and then each of the 15 are given ratings based on this matrix. These ratings are used to generate the second groups of questions (11-20) in order to differentiate similar rated options. (sort of like 'tiebreakers')

That's why you get the feeling when doing the second set: I want ALL three or I don't want any of them.

The 15 options are:
•Ability to use points for domestic only ticket upgrades
•Ability to use points for international ticket upgrades
•Earn Air dollars (eg $20 Air dollars for a Sydney to Melbourne flight), resulting in a dollar balance that can be 'spent' on flight or offers.
•Earn points (eg 1 point per 1.6 km flown) that can be redeemed on flights or offers.
•Earn points with airline partners (eg. Star Alliance, Oneworld Partners)
•Earn points with credit cards
•Earn points with non-airline product & services purchases (eg rental cars, hotels, music, gas/electricity bills, financial products)
•Extra luggage allowance
•Free flight for every 10 purchased
•Guaranteed availability of a seat on your desired flight
•Lounge access
•Priority service (booking, check-in, luggage)
•Redeem points on domestic flights
•Redeem points on International flights with Qantas or airline partners
•Transfer points between family members

Then that's misleading from QF and make me  - they should have said BNE/MEL or BNE/ADL.

Don't worry NM I wasn't asked either.

Perhaps they know - I hate QANTAS

Cheers

I'm not sure that there is a pattern..
I'm only QC Silver and I got one.

Was rathe annoyed at the 18 screens of options for different flight configurations..

Just hope they don't change the food to a coughpppyyy little pickup bag at the door. I had that on AA last year and was SOO hungry by the time I got to DFW from YVR..

yes Qantas I need food. I could usually eat the bum out of a rag doll by the time on on the plane for 6 hours......

I'm in CHC at the momment.. Flight from SYD was bumpy. Some guy behind me was feeling rather ill. The trolley dollies had to batten down the hatches and stopped serving food. Dind't bother me much. Just keept eating my chicken and drinking champers in J..

Hmmm, thanks to MetroAir, seems that the emails have an imbedded individual code, so my emailed copy to NM and oz_mark won't work fo them. Qantas and targeted emails...wonders will never cease :D .

Of course, there's nothing to say that NM won't crack the code.

Obviously they are not going to ask someone who does not even read the subject line.

I thought you were pretty special but not to the point where you know who has e-mail or not. How do you do that :?: Is that a skill you can share with the rest of us :?: Do you know if I have e-mail :?:  :D :D

I wasn't invited to this party either.
I wouldn't worry too much. The last time I got invited to a party was 1986 and I was told that I will not be invited again until hell freezes over. :D
