My CBA points sweep on the 7th each month so this will be nice because I spent a lot last month on tax.

or it won't be nice since the offer doesn't apply to you.

A bit of a penalty for our loyalty in working with the direct sweep program.

At least I do have points sitting in Amex ... just wonder if the 15% is enough.

They've got the direct sweep people hooker already - no incentive required.

I wonder if there'll be some good sign-up offers at the end of the month.

Get the people still in warehouse cards to sweep all their points across, emptying their accounts and leaving little incentive to stay then fire up a good sign up offer to those people to move into the direct sweep program.

Just a thought.

It is obviously just a sub-set of Cards. QF stopped allowing me to transfer from AMEX Gold a few years back, and those points have been going to Virgin. Had a quick look to see if the current 12K points in AMEX could go to QF, but they remain out of the options. So next Virgin offer, the points go there.

Totally agree and the pain is even more due to transferring manually on the 4th ouch !

Besides the fact that qantas do not what it to apply to direct sweep cards? The fact remains that qantas have already locked in people on direct sweep cards. They have that money already and there is absolutely no reason for them to offer any incentive to get business from direct sweep cards.

That is a massive reason why the bonus does not apply to direct sweep cards.

True but only to the extent that they expect people not to up sticks and move to another card. They may have thought they had me locked in but in fact have moved to card(s) that allow me to transfer to other FF progrems and frankly I dont think the lack of QF points is that big a deal. I have only one direct sweep card left (WW EDR) and thinking of getting rid of it.

I don't see it. Do you mean if you go to Qantas.com and login there? Is it one of the scrolling banners for you? Or when you click through to the frequent flyer tab?

I'd rather take my higher earning direct sweep CC over an ad-hoc bonus with limitations.

Yes that's you. But since they are not offering an incentive to direct sweep cards I assume they are happy with the situation even with you leaving. If many more people left that could change.

Also, you and others leaving doesn't change the fact that those still on direct sweep cards are locked in. A 10 day promo, if it applied to direct sweep, really does not allow the time required to go out and sign up for a new card to even access the promo. So it's not going to get you back.

If one of your new cards allows transfer to QFF then this promo is targeting you.

As these are not credit card points then there should be no bonus.

Just transferred my points across which will give the net result of 1.4375 points per dollar on the Citibusiness Gold.

Only wish I had more points to make use of the promotion

May be I'm thinking too hard ... but if Qantas group revenue is 'soft' for the year, then this would be an additional bottom line bonus especially seeing how the frequent flyer program seems rather profitable.

On top of that it would potentially be a blocking strategy against points transfer elsewhere.

Or may be the freq. flyer store operator gets a good kick-back, sorry I mean "rebate" from the toaster and kettle suppliers each time someone buys one with there points.

Just transferred 100k from my amex for hopefully a lazy 15 k profit. Suits me not being applied to direct sweeps as my anz card gets sweeped tomorrow so it would be touch & go which got the 15%
