Hi there. Is it just me or are others having problems with the wonderful new QF website? Trying to book domestic or international multi city itineraries gives me empty drop down menus with zero options!! Any thoughts? Anyone else encountered this problem?

What web browser are you using? I have no problems with Safari or Firefox (on the Mac). Internet Explorer should also have no issues.

For the OP: What country is displayed at the top right corner of your browser? Some countries have limited options to create multi-city itins etc.

The beta of Firefox 3.6 has some issues with the Qantas website (mainly a very long "hang/pause" in certain areas due to the construction of certain drop down menu's... but overall it works well - as does the various versions of Firefox I use.

Last week I was not able to book MEL-SYD-AKL-MEL as the multi-city option no longer allows me to enter manually, it had to be selected from the world map which would not allow domestic and international on the same search.

When entering in MEL-AKL, the flight list did not give options for any flights other than direct. In the past it would have given options via SYD and BNE but no more.

Ended up booking separate flights to get around the restriction which is annoying.

Maybe you've saved / bookmarked an old version of the site? There's something related you this sort of problem on the Qantas website in the help area:

Answer

You're supposed to "clear your cache"; all techno-babble to me but looks like there's pretty easy to follow instructions.

Alas. I use IE 8. Have tried clearing my cache. I use the AUS website and have tried the SIN website (there is no PNG website :-|). Never had this problem with the old website.

I've also discovered the month by month calendar keeps popping up a white space where the calendar should be. The white space of death, whatever I do next, IE crashes :(.

Now I'm getting into rant mode, I'd like to flag hatred for the new "manage my booking" screen. It used to bring up your flight details. Now they are buried within a sea of junknobabble .

And furthermore it seems it can't do booking changes on return flights from POM. I was tantalised online with "no extra fare, just $50 change fee" but it couldn't validate the new fare(??). I had to ring up and pay $120 extra instead for a change to N when the website and I both knew there were still seats available in S . I should have known, it can't seem to validate anything out of POM.

There. I feel much better now.

Cheers skip.

I share your views regarding the 'improved' view my booking screen.

Had the pleasure of that this morning after booking my insane trip next week - and it's an abomination.

I can understand that the airlines are trying to capitaiise on ancillery revenue opportunities through luggage pre-purchase, tours, trips and insurance, but I personally don't want that - particularly on a screen where I go to view my booking.

The previous format was much better, as all that junk was pushed off to the left and didn't get in the way of the pages core purpose.

User interface (UI) 0, revenue opportunities (aka the ryanair model) 1.
